U.S. power woes fuel new policy

Not since the oil crisis of 1974 has the nation been so consumed by the threat of a major energy crunch. With retail gasoline prices climbing and the possibility of rolling electrical blackouts, consumers and businesses look for answers.

President Bush recently laid out details of his strategy, saying it focuses on "all three key aspects of the energy equation: Demand, supply and the means to match them." The plan is already under attack by congressional Democrats who say it offers no immediate relief.
