The Pope's second stop in Cuba, Santa Clara, is known mainly for its prominent role in the revolution. The city of about 200,000 was the first major metropolitan center to fall into rebels' hands in December 1958, and it is where revolutionary hero Ernesto "Che" Guevera's remains were recently entombed.
The pope's celebrated Mass on a sports field, and then flew back to Havana to meet with President Fidel Castro and members of his Cabinet and the State Council.
