    Troops in Kuwait

    The United States maintains a significant military presence in Saudi Arabia to patrol the southern "no-fly zone" over Iraq, including some 6,000 ground troops. And in early February, the Pentagon announced plans to send 2,500 to 3,000 soldiers to Kuwait to join up with some 1,500 Army troops already there for "intrinsic action" exercises.
