Of course not. For the, say, 6th week in a row, the judges have made negative -- even disparaging remarks about Sanjaya and Haley -- even Phil. And somehow Gina takes the fall. Her performances Tuesday and last week meant she should have been here for at least two or three more episodes. If Sanjaya makes it to the top 5 and higher, I believe the public will lose faith in the validity of the show, if they haven't already!

No. San-gina shouldn't be there, and if his father wasn't as wacked, he'd tell his son to step down. He's only making it through because of Howard Sterns fans.

I find myself in quite the quandary over this. On one hand, I am in disbelief that Sanjaya can actually sit there as people he knows are better than him get voted off. He has become a national circus sideshow act instead of a talented performer like the show is intended to produce. However, I find myself also realizing the buzz this has caused around the nation, causing people like me to write lengthy opinions on and i have to ask myself, "The amount of attention he is recieving be it positive or negative has made him if not for the moment, one of the biggest entertainers in the country.....an Anti-Idol, maybe, but an American Idol the same."

I think Amy's comment is right on. Sanjaya keeps getting voted through despite performances that are no where near compared to the others that are on the show. He's too immature too, there is no way I could ever picture him as an American Idol. But getting back to Amy's comment, I have lost faith in the validity of the show. I have been a strong viewer for the last three years (not missing a single episode) and this year, seeing him continue to get voted through has just took the wind out of my sail and I don't really watch it anymore.

america is playing a joke on american idol and the ones who are loosing are the contestants like GINA. Gina did not deserve to leave so early- she is a wonderful singer who's personality grew each week. This Sanjaya nightmare is becoming old and boring... I think America is making the wrong decision by keeping people with absolutely not talent, like Sanjaya, on the show and slowing chipping away at those that do. Obviously Sanjaya has become an entertainment factor.

Well, it just shows that one of two thing s are going on for the fans of American Idol. Either America is deaf or people have forgotten that this is a singing competition and not a popularity contest.

An avid American Idol fan and I must say that even with the talent of Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, even Blake, this season is going down hill fast. There is NO WAY Sanjaya should still be on the show, and I was rooting for him in the beginning. Wake up America.

I think that the voters are destroying the reputation of American Idol. It is totally ridiculous that good singers like Gina, Chris Sligh , and Stephanie are voted off the show and someone like Sanjya is still on this show. America is brining down the show by voting the way they are. What has happened to the ear of America?

Is this show for real anymore? I mean, everyone everywhere is "buzzing" about Sanjaya, and how exactly it has come to pass that he is still on the show. Ryan Seacrest is right, America is doing it. But honestly, sending someone home like Gina, while she may not be the most talented person on the show, she was still talented. Talented enough to stay on over Haley, or Phil, or Chris R. It's becoming hard to sit back and watch Sanjaya act surprised when he gets to stay another week...he knows that he's not going home. Im starting to believe that the people talking on the internet are right...he's going to win. Then what will become of American Idol???

I have already lost faith in American Idol. Sanjaya CAN NOT SING people, but yet his big smile and big hair has kept him on the top. What upsets me so much is that he will stay at the top and of the the others that really can sing will go home. Its not right, IT'S NOT AMERICAN!!
If Sanjaya comes out the winner this season, I will never watch or support American Idol again.

I think it was wrong for Gina to go. She is a good singer. As for Sanjaya - I think he has to go. It is wrong that people want a bad singer to win the title. American Idol should be structured like Dancing with the stars so the judges vote as well as America. i feel that American Idol is losing its credibility and integrity.

America just continues to keep getting it WRONG! Gina did NOT deserve to be voted off last night, neither did Stephanie Edwards a few weeks back. Why are earth are Phil Stacy, Haley Scarnato, and Sanjaya still on?! I just don't get it. Personally, I have never been a fan of Gina and her style of music so her being voted off is fine with me. HOWEVER, Sanjaya has become a joke and his still being on the show does not make it a 'singing competition' but a farce.

No, America failed miserably by not keeping Gina. Haley was horrible. the only thing that saved her was her looks. Phil was so boring I almost fell asleep. And Lakisha? Hello?! What was up with those lips? Her weird, freaky mannerisms during the song distracted me so much that I didn't listen to the performance.

America voted off the wrong person. Gina is far better than Scarnato. Scarnato should have been cut. She does not give out an entertaining performance. Hopefully next week we'll all get our wish and Scarnato will be cut. Gina should not have been cut this soon.

This show is becoming a joke. I have been a huge fan since the beginning and due to this season really don't care if I watch it or not. When Sanjaya said he was out to prove to America that he could sing that was proof that even he knows he can't and this has just become a big popularity contest. It really disapoints me that they are focusing on him and his crazy hairdo's and not focusing on the talents of the other singers. Paula Abdul needs to be replaced. That BeetleJuice jacket and her comments are just about nauseating.

I rarely watch reality shows and this is my first time following American Idol. If they plan to air again next year I will not watch if people are going to continue to "vote for the worst" instead of the best singer. Is our country stupid or what? Gina is a great singer, and that's coming from an African American who doesn't even listen to rock music. I love her performances and her spirit. Sunjaya is a joke. American Idol is going to lose a lot of viewers if does not change from a popularity contest to a talent contest. The fact that Sanjaya is still on proves it.

America didn't make the right decision by voting Gina off! It is quite discouraging watching Idol week after week only to see talent singers leave the show, yet the horrific singer, Sanjaya Malakar is still there. I also think that it's terrible that there's a website and Howard Stern promoting him over the nation. In my opinion, that's cheating and there ought to be something that can be done about this. I don't believe Gina should have been the next to go. Out of the bottom three, it probably should've been Haley to go. She's pretty unoriginal in her barely there outfits. Sanjaya should have gone weeks ago. Watching him makes my skin crawl, in fact I'm losing interest in the whole show. At the same time, I'm sad for him as he's become a national joke. You'd think a parent or friend would clue him in, so he could drop out.

As much as I hated to see Gina go, because there are many who should have gone before her, she gave the most honest performance ever at the end of the show. If she could have hit that emotional note during the competition, her she would have been in the top three not the bottom. It is all about connecting with the lyrics.

Gina should have stayed at least 3-4 more weeks. She had the most talent out of the bottom 3. Phil needs to go...he is so full of himself, it makes me sick. Sanjaya has the votes of the young girls, and leggy Haley has the votes of the young boys. Who knows what will happen.

This is the worst season yet. None of the singers stand out, so it doesn't really matter who gets voted off. It's just not that interesting any more.

This is so stupid! I am almost ready to quit watching. I guess this is more about teenie bobbers and Stern helpers than singing.

American Idol is a joke and I would be amazed if it comes back for another year...especially if Sanjaya (god forbid) wins.
I feel for all of the other singers who are being bumped out because of the fans who are not taking it seriously. You may not think that one vote can have an effect, but it does...these are people's careers. Use some common sense America!

Gina Glockson was refrishingly different for this years American Idol. She also COULD sing (unlike Sanjaya). I am sad to say that I believe this year A/I has jumped the shark and is proving to be a predictable boring show. Next year they should change it up a bit, something like maybe have the top 5 or 10 cut a single, put it out for sale, and whatever song sells the least that week, send that singer home (bye bye Sanjaya!), instead of opening the show up for tainted voting which is ruining the premis of A/I. I will say this, if Lakisha or Melinda go home BEFORE Sanjaya this year.... I will forever stop watching A/I even though I've looked forward to it each year and have watched every year it has been on.

After finding out Sanjaya was not eliminated, frankly I went to HBO and watched a movie. Next week I'll find something else to watch. After voting over 500 times on the final night last year, I don't think it matters how many times I vote this year.

This show has sunk straight to the bottom. What happened to trying to get a record contract the hard way or the right way? Does anyone still listen to Clay Aiken since he has been on the show? Gina gave a good strong performance and she was voted off. In that respect for some its become a popularity contest and not a singing contest, I thought American Idol was a singing contest.
I'm hoping that one of the best - Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin eentually become the next American Idol or the show will lose its appeal and credibilty as a " talent " show.

Sanjaya is definitely a joke, but come on people. What about Haley? She is talentless, and the only way she keeps getting pushed through is by wearing fewer and fewer clothes. She is leveraging her sex appeal, which, IMO, is a lot more offensive than letting Sanjaya skate by for one more week. It is pathetic the way the American male is so easily manipulated.

No way should Gina have been booted! The judges should have never allowed Sanjaya into the Top 24. After the first week of the top 12, he gave a bad performance and from there on out has done so. It appears to me that he was moe concerned about his stupid hairdo than working on his singing. He is nothing but an immature little brat!

And him trying to snipe at Simon a couple of weeks ago when Simon criticized his hair and all Sanjaya could say was "You're just jealous you couldn't pull it off!" Come on...even the comebacks are as week as his voice.

I guess if America wants to vote for the worst, they are doing a great job. But pretty soon the other contestants are going to start resenting this little twerp. You could already see it last night when they went on stage to wish Gina off; Sanjaya was kind of stuck standing to the side alone. Maybe America will wake up and vote and get the do-do off next week.

Didn't the judges saying over and over that American Idol is a "singing" competition? A certain group of people have decided to make sure this years show is anything but that. I have to say, all of this could have been avoided if Sanjaya had never made it through the first Hollywood process. Maybe if Idol wants to continue past this season, it should think about changing the voting procedures. Perhaps, viewers should vote for the one they think should leave the show. That way, instead of all the legimate votes being split between the best people in the competition, most people would be voting for the one who needs to go.

You bet they did. Everyone feigns (I hope) outrage that a contestant like Sanjaya is still on the show, but what they don't realize, is that if any of the top 12 are actually talented, they're going to get a record deal anyway. Sanjaya is without a doubt, the most entertaining person I've ever seen on American Idol and for him to go far can only help the show. Last night was the highest vote total thus far this season. Obviously the product isn't suffering. Plus, I disliked Gina intensely. Her rocker act was painfully contrived (horrible pink hair does not a rocker make) and she was incredibly conceited, almost to the point of disbelief. Good riddance in my book.

Gina is gone because of that stud in her tongue. That was disgusting to see her open her mouth to sing and see that stud in her tongue, which everyone knows is used for one purpose. That turned me off big time. I have never been a fan of hers, but this was the first time I was actually turned off. As far as Sanjia, he is not nearly as good as anyone else on the show, but think about it, how many artists sell millions of records, and can't really sing... Britney Spears is one. It is not about singing only. He appeals to a large group of people, and if you owned a record label, do you want to sell records, like with Sanjia, or have a great singer who doesn't sell records, like Ruben Studdard. Clearly, someone out there likes him, and that is what being an "Idol" is about.

Haley is still around because people find her attractive (she should be singing on a cruise ship). Sanjaya is around because Howard Stern fans are keeping him around besides others as well (not sure why). Unfortunately the show is turning into a joke. It's most annoying watching Sanjaya as he tries to sing, his all of a sudden cocky attitude, and his hair. But the most annoying thing is watching other people being voted off before their time.

American Idol has become a joke. I do believe that some changes need to be made. The day that Haley, Phil and Sanjaya remain while Gina leaves, is a sad commentary on the show. On the train ride into work today, I over heard several other commuters state that they are finished with the show. Why bother watching a show that has become the laughing stock of America?

I think that all three that were in the bottom three last night should have went home. We all know that Sanjaya should've been gone, but he's there for the ratings. There's no way Sanjaya is going to win. As more contestants leave the show, their fans will start voting for the other quality singers on the show. If Sanjaya is still in the running by the time it gets down to 3 or 4 people, the other contestants will have gained a large amount of votes from the fans whose first choices have been voted off. The only way he will win is if the fans get bitter their person was voted off and choose to knock the show's purpose and join those who are voting Sanjaya in. And that will be the end of American Idol.

Gina was good, but I don't think she was good enough to win the whole thing. At some point, the people who shouldn't win will be voted off, so does it really matter what order they go, now that the top 10 has been picked?

I've been heartbroken each week as the truly talented singers are sent home while Sanjaya stays. At this point he obviously has a 'cult' following. What they don't realize is that their actually hurting him more than helping. They're giving him a false sense of safety. If he actually ends up being the "Americal Idol" it will never go far, After his initial album that all the teeny boppers would buy he will fade into the backgroung like all the other "teen idols". Gina is a true performer who deserved to get an honest chance for success. Sanjaya may become a viable singer down the road but he's definitely out of his league with this competition.

Gina absolutely did not deserve to go home this week. Overall her performances have been good and consistent. She's a gorgeous girl with a nice voice, and if you questioned her sincerity, it should have been clear last night this girl is no joke.

I,like so many other intelligent people, feel Sanjaya and his "fans" are making a farce of IA. When he showed in the middle group, I actually felt angry. I thought "what should we do"??? HOW ABOUT EVERYONE PUTTING IN EXTRA, EXTRA VOTES ON ALL THE REST OF THE SINGERS? EVEN IF THEY HAVE A BAD WEEK? It's one way to get the non-talented, now pompous Sanjaya out. Why doesn't Idol change the voting to favor a system where the judges have some input, like they did on Rock Star Super Nova?

I can't blame AI for the way people vote, and I do think the show is being spoiled by campaigns who no matter how they present are out to ruin other people's fun.

I'd suggest AI implement some changes in voting for next year, such as having the judges' opinions account for some portion of the score. Otherwise it does become a pure popularity contest or worse.

This season is utter bullcrap. Haley sounds like a cheesey high school musical singer and Sangina sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
I cringe every time I have to listen to either of them sing. Every week more talented singers are leaving, while Sangina and his fake smile light up! He has to know that he does not deserve to be there. What kind of character does he have? I would have willingly left, if I in fact knew that very talented people were being voted off, and I was only there as a joke on America!!!!!

Why is Haley still there? She should be gone. Sanjayai I'm not sure what he is doing. Nice voice but not one for the finals. The two mentioned above are certaily the two that should have bee gone before Chris and Gina. Are people voiting for these two out of sympathy wanting the underdog to win? Think of the record contract..who will buy their albums?

I watched American Idol from the beginning to see how much singing talent there was. Now that its turned into a popularity contest I'm done with it.

I don't think that it was necessarily Gina's "time" to go, as far as talent ranking. However, the way I see it, Blake, Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordin are in different leagues than everybody else, so I am not getting all worked up about how everyone else settles out - the order is not important to me, it would happen eventually, and they all get to go on the tour, and now have many fans and national recognition. However, if Sanjaya breaks the top four or five I will be sorely disappointed. Surely there won't be SO MANY jerks skewing the vote at that stage of the game that Sanjaya can break the top four, but who knows - anything can happen I suppose. Go Blake!

Okay America here is the breakdown! Gina Glocksen was the Only chance for a fresh and new type of singer to emerge from AI, as well as Blake. These two have raw talent and looks. I love Melinda and LA keisha, I really do. However there is so many Melindas and La Keisha style singers out right now. We need another Pat Bennatar, rocker girl with a fresh face. (Gina) I hope she recieves a sign on deal in spite of America's voting failures.
Haley is in because she barely dressess and Phil is extremely talented but he looks to old to sell to the younger crowd. Chris is very talented but isn't good on his own. He needs a boy band. I am trying to be nice,but Sanjaya is the worst thing to happen to AI. I wish I could vote but I live on base in Germany. He is in because Paula is to nice to speak the truth about his non-talent and when Randy or Simon do, they get booed right away. They are the pros people. STOP BOOING the pros and start voting right. American Idol producers are having the last laugh...at the expense of the REAL singers who came on the show to SING. This is a SINGING competation isn't it? Thats why we have been watching. Sanjaya is a jerk for not having the guts to drop out. He is laughing at the other contenstants. They show Sanjaya's father in the audiance jumping around, glad handing the other audiance members...Why? Oh, I forgot, the producers want the big score for most watched TV show..and also most terrible entertainer (not singer) on the show. I think the SHOW is the one that needs to go. AI is played out. And people have figured out how to get a laugh out of it by letting the no-talents go through and voting off the talented people. Let's just go back to traditional auditions, discovering talent in unlikely places and paying dues to make it. That's where we have found REAL talent over many, many years. This should be AI's last season.

No, they didn't make the right decision. Anyone who says Sanjaya is talented must need their ears checked. Being an avid fan since the show started, I have to admit I don't enjoy watching it anymore--no matter how bad he is-he is still getting voted through. America needs to wake up and vote for the most talented, not the most popular.

The sad thing is not that she got voted off, but that people are taking this show so seriously. It's a talent show on tv that is left up to public opinion. The basic idea behind it is people being entertained by the show, and there just happens to be a mass of people who think it'll be more interesting to see if they can get the worst singer to win rather then voting for the best and then having them fade away into nothing (with the exception of Kelly Clarkson, and to a lesser extent Carrie Underwood).

I truly believe Sanjayas' voters are young teen girls and East Indian Americans. That alone will see him through.

I watch AI to be entertained and really do not care who the eventual "winner" will be. Here are the reasons I watch 1. To hear Melinda sing. 2. To hear Jordin sing. 3. To watch Sanjaya entertain. 4. To see how much skin Haley will show. So far the voting has bee spot on. Keep up the good work America.

This show has become a real joke. I used to watch the show to see real talent but now that Sanjaya has ruined the show this season. It's ashame!

Sanjaya is a tool and should never have made it to Hollywood in the first place. However, everyone is blaming the show. It's the viewers who are doing the voting. Don't like the way it is going? Then either change the channel or vote a few more times for someone who actually has talent.

This is the first season I have watched AI, and I have to admit, it is very entertaining. Gina has talent, and not only more than Sanjaya, but more than Haley and ALL the male singers. I TIVO the show and tolerate about 30 seconds of each male singer, then fast forward - they belong in lounge acts or community theater. That said, I understand sanjaya's appeal. He's young and cute and there are no current boytoys for the 10-13 teeny boppers to swoon over. So that explains Sanjaya. But how do you explain Haley over Gina? Gina has a great voice,a unique style, and personality and passion that enliven her singing. She is not Belinda, Kiki, or Jordon, but she certainly is next in line. She was getting better every week and deserved a few more weeks of coaching and exposure to develop as a star. The show failed Gina. This weeks show did not make the series any less entertaining, but it cannot claim to be about singing anymore and that's a shame.

I love Gina's style of music and her voice. I'm sad that she had to go. On the bright side 33 million people voted altogether...so she's got lots of fans out there still and I'll buy the album she makes. At least Sanjaya wasn't in the top 3. That gives me hope that the votefortheworst.com won't win. At least she'll make the summer tour & has made herself known.

Let's get some things straight here. 1) This is only a reality TV Show people, this is not going to be the leader of some country. It is just pure entertainment, is it that big of a deal who wins this darn thing? seriously..they are not going to change the world. You all get hyped up during the season and then afterwards some of these "so called" good singers just fizzle out and no one really cares. For instance, Taylor Hicks..EVERYBODY loved this guy and now? Nowhere to be really seen, Ruben? Diana? etc. I mean they are doing their own thing and making money and good for them, but there have been some lucky winners and runner ups and some not so much. Relax, America..there are people dying in the world. 2) Why are we getting all excited about this girl leaving? She was a bit cocky to begin with and even if Sanjaya had been eliminated weeks ago, it would still be her time to go. She was going to be eliminated anyway, she cannot compete with the top 3 women that consistently get high remarks. 3) Lay off that poor kid, he is 17 yrs old and he wants what any of these people want, fame and celebrity. He went on the show and he thought he could sing and the people you should be mad at are the judges that put him on there. They wanted to use him for the show and now they are stuck with him. They did that foolish thing and now it has backfired. But to gang up on this boy that is just running with the show is absurd. They people voting for him, the people rallying to vote for the worst or just to humiliate him, and the 3 clowns that put him on the show are to blame.

After last night, I am through with the show. I am not saying that Gina was the strongest candidate, but she was better than Phil, Scarnato, and definetly Sanjaya. The show has lost its validity and reputation. I am done with it.

I don't think it was the right decision either but America's viewer's that are calling in, I believe, are much too young to know what a real talented/gifted singer is. The callers, and a high percentage of them are in the younger generation, see Sanjaya as a teen Idol and they vote over and over again to keep him in. He is an intertainer and I don't have a problem with that. I actually like to see what he will do next. He is certainly not the best but he can sing. Gina's version of the Pretenders "I'll Stand By You" was without a doubt the best performance I heard all season. When I closed my eyes I swear Chrissie Hynde was singing. I am going to miss Gina but I think we will see her again somewhere. My next hope is for Haley, Jordin, Chris and Blake. Not in any particular order. They too are intertainers, a singers and performers. But I am a "rocker" what do I know about music.

No matter what we think of vote, this Sanjaya controversy has certainly kept American Idol the hot topic of conversation, hasn't it? Maybe it wasn't all such an accident. Ratings are ratings and this "stunt", no matter who began it, has really kept the ratings up.

I have lost faith in the validity of the show. I have been a strong viewer for the last three years (not missing a single episode) and this year, Hearing that Sanjaya continues to get voted through has just took the wind out of my sail and I don't watch it anymore. Should Gina have left? NO! Yes she is not in the same league as Jordin or Melinda but Norah Jones is not in the same league as Patti, Aretha or Gladys yet she is a star as Gina is. This is the first year I have watched AI and will be my last. It is definitely not talent but popularity that keeps the singers. Sanjaya should have been eliminated from the start. I agree with 99% of commenters about Sanjaya's singing performances, but he has to show up week after week because voters keep him on. I think he realizes that he's not the cream amongst the talent pool this year by the judges criticism, but he has to come back next week and perform again. Personally, I think the terrorists are behind this conspiracy:)

First of all, the judges have only themselves to blame for putting Sanjaya in the Top 24. The passed over a number of more talented young men and women.

Secondly, this has to be about the worst season of American Idol thus far. It has become a joke....when Sanjaya is still in the competition based on popularity (why is he so popular) rather than talent. Should he win American Idol, I believe, this show will lose a lot of its credibility. In addition, they better hope his "loyal" fans buy the CDs or else they will bomb out just like....Taylor Hicks!

I'm very disappointed that things continue to deteriorate on American Idol. If Sanjaya had any decency he would drop out of the competition. He is going on the tour. He has to know that he is only being kept around because of the various negative boards and radio personalities. He just can't actually be believing he is still there for his over whelming talent. The competition is definitely turning into a mockery.

I don't think Gina would have made the final 4. So in the big scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. However, that being said, she didn't deserve to go yet. Sanjaya hasn't been on the same level as the other singers from the start. He should've gone weeks ago. Fact that he isn't even in the bottom 3 makes me wonder if the voting system is flawed.

Although I was never a huge fan of Gina's, I liked her performances more and more. I did feel bad for her when she got the news that she was cut. I think it is also in very poor taste that AI makes the newly cut performers sing for one last time after they've just heard the news that they've been cut.

I am also still wondering what Sanjaya is even doing in this competition - and how he got this far.

first of all, Howard Stern needs to stay out of it..second, vote for the worst needs to stay out of it. AI is a singing competition. Sanjaya can't sing, that's obvious. But he will be here another 3-4 weeks at least. That's sad. He will hurt the tour. GO JORDIN!!!!

Gina has been getting better every week. She deserved to stay.

This time around, it appears that the votes are for popularity not for singing. That's sad!

There reaches a point where show producers need recognize the future validity of a show is being compromised and step in to stop the absurdity. I cannot imagine how the contestants must feel knowing their hard work and dedication to singing has taken a back set to an 'entertainer with zero talent' - what a slap in their faces! I think I would be asking myself 'What's the point - I don't need this'. I suggest all other contestants up and quit if Ai allows Sanjay to remain any longer � no matter what the votes say. It is a SINGING competition- the other contestants are excellent singers, and no, they wouldn't have the AI winner title, but at the rate things are going that title clearly has lost any meaning what so ever. Pull Sanjay or kiss the show goodbye.

I find it difficult to believe that Sanjaya has not graciously stepped aside on his own. Irregardless of his young age it is apparent that a number of far more talented individuals have been removed while he remains and he should step up and make the move. I shudder to think that he truly believes that he can not only sing but sing far better than those who have gone before him.

This contest is becoming a "beauty" contest, not one looking for talent. Sanjaya should have been gone long ago. For the past 2 weeks now, people singing better than he has were voted off.

The American voting public has become bored with American Idol. The group of Idol contestants this season have not been as interesting as they have in the past. Sanjaya has become a focal point for the shows popularity this season. Without Sanjaya this season would be about as boring as Simon Cowell is. The FOX network will need to rethink its voting procedures for next season for Idol if the show is to remain a credible vehicle for vocal talent.

Howard Stern lemmings - cut the crap. Stop voting for Sanjaya, people. Let him go home to his sister (who had more talent. I couldn't believe the judges went with him instead.) Sanjaya should by now realize his notoriety is well-established and step down. This would be the mature thing to do. We can only hope he grows up soon.

I've already decided I'm done watching American Idol this season. Every time I do it just gets me more upset which is not the point in watching something. Yeah, I know it seem like it's a funny thing to do to send Sanjaya and Haley through every week but now it's just getting ridiculous. I'll admit I was a big Gina fan and I didn't want to see her go and if it would have been under other circumstances it would of been fine but not the way it's going now.

No once again the viewers themselves are screwing up the votes.
The cream should rise to the top. But in todays atmosphere the pranksters, and popularity seems to count more.
The problem comes when you vote for a substandard performer. It isn't just a game to keep him or her in the running. What it really does is deprive a more talented performer of his or her chance. These are peoples lives and careers we are speaking about. The voters should be ashamed of themselves.
Unfortunately at the same time AI is raking in all the cash so they are not about to restrict the number of times someone can vote. The vote is NOT a true reflection of the majority, just the majority that will spend the money to vote.

We all know that Sanjaya should have gone home but I feel as long as the better singers, Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin and Blake are not voted off before Sanjaya then it's ok.
All the others plus Sanjaya are not going to win American Idol it's just common sense.
Each year something like this happens, remember 'Chicken Little'....
All the artists in the Top 10 get to tour so whether Sanjaya would have been voted off last week or leaves next week it does not matter.
Plus, all the votes that these 'booted' contestants were receiving will now go to others, not Sanjaya.
So basically I am just keeping my eye on the top 4 contestants, the ones who CAN win and if one of those go before Sanjaya then that's when I feel the show has run its course.

All I can say is if Sanjaya wins I am done watching Americam Idol.I always made sure to never miss a show , now it just doesn't seem as important anymore. It getting to be a joke.

Absolutely not; the show has become a popularity contest rather than a contest of talent. With a website dedicated to urging fans to vote for "least talented" singer and now Howard Stern also pushing for Sanjaya, there are forces out there that are aiming to ruin a good show. The producers should look into charging viewers for votes, with benefits going to a charity. Perhaps this would help.

I love how everyone gets so worked up about Sanjaya. While people cry and go on hunger strikes over this kid, the producers of American Idol are loving all the attention it is bringing.

This season of AI is a joke...it has lost most of its credibility as a singing contest and will no longer be respected among artists....it is a popularity contest for rteenagers, and an object of ridicule for Howard stern and the likes.

I think Idol needs to come up with a better system for voting. When you allow people to cast multiple votes, you run the risk of the votes not being an accurate representation of the viewers opinions. Rather than voting for your favorite, the viewers should be asked to cast a vote for the person they think should be voted off, and the person with the highest number of votes is the one that leaves.

I am very sorry to see all the good singers leaving the show. Sanjaya should have been one of the first to go. If the Howard Stern fans would stop allowing themselves to be manipulated by him then perhaps American Idol could return to the great show it was.

Although Gina may not have been the greatest of all the others, she was and is definitely better than Sanjaya. Somewhere there has to be something done because what was suppose to be a singing competition is now based on popularity, hairstyles, and attire. The last three that have been voted off were surely better singers than Sanjaya, including Gina.

Gina did not deserve to go at this time but she would not have been the final winner - so does it really matter if she lasts a 4 more weeks? She will be in the Idol tour and should get a recording contract if the companies are awake. She is a great singer and performer.

I was disappointed to see Gina go, but then again, I didn't vote. She is probably the only one on the show who's album I would by.

I like Sanjaya..I really think he is in on hte joke and is enjoying the ride. And although the judges protest, they too are probably glad Sanjaya is sticking around because the controversy draws ratings and the number of voters keeps going up...this is entertainment at its finest.

Definitely not. Gina was definitely not the worst. And even if America has fallen and hit it's head and decided to keep Sanjaya, then Phil or Haley should have been let go. Phil looked a little stalker like when he did his rendition the other night and Haley is just not the type of singer that American Idol is looking for, no matter how beautiful she is. Sanjaya however has got to go. It's American Idol, not Hairmerican Idol. American Idol is a singing contest, and Sanjaya can not sing. He is making a mockery of the process! He needs to go home. The other contestants that are going home are going home in his place. What can be done, to right this wrong?

I have been an avid viewer from season 1 on. It is time that AI revises there voting system. AI is supposed to be a singing competition which it has clearly failed at by keeping Sanjaya yet another week while sending a more talented singer home.

Vot for the worts.com and Howard Stern have effectively negated what was a great talent search show by mobilizing voters to cast ballots for the least talented singer.

If it is possible to effect voting which costs other more talented singers their shot at stardom; then the system is broken. AI needs to do something quickly.

I will most likely stop viewing AI until they can fix the voting system.

I wonder how Melinda and Lakisha would have done against Gina in a "Rocker" show? Maybe a power-ballad theme or some old hair-band rock? It's easy to be good in your genre of music, but as of yet AI has not forced these two women out of their comfort zone. I think this years american idol will probably be the last. It is so obivous that Sanjayh is now and has been the weakest vocalist of the final 12. The judges say what they want and they have already got their winner. They know who they want off and I believe the reason that Sanjaya is still there is because he makes good television just like the chinese guy "Hung" did.

American Idol needs to put a limit on votes per phone. I guarantee you that Sanjaya has way more votes than voters, meaning he is not a true representation of the majority of Americans. It'll be proven when the show is over and he disappears (at least I hope so). If only you could vote against someone... he'd be long gone! I will boycot AI forever if Sanjaya makes it past the top 5, there's no way he should ever make it past 6. I may not agree with the order that contestants are dropped always, but Gina would never have made it past the top 6 either. There are (in my opinion) 4 really good singers that need to be there in the end.

It could be worse. It appears that all the finalists receive mostly "meaningful" feedback from the judges, except Sanjaya Malakar. This is truly unfortunate because the judges should maintain the same assessment standards for everyone. However, it could be worse. Just imagine what it would be like if both the Malakars had made the finals! Do you know if the show's producers have given any thought to ending the 2007 season early and simply devlaring Sanjaya Malakar the new American Idol? In my opinion, this would spare Idol fans a lot of needless pain!

I loved Gina because she's not like the others & brings a little rock into the mix. Sanjaya is an embarassment to American Idol. The young girls can say he is cute all they want, but this is supposed to be a singing contest. Melinda and Jordin are so far above Sanjaya above the rest of the men and a couple of the girls that it should be a no-brainer.

I'm done with that show... those that voted for Sanjokey succeeded. Besides that, there's no one that really stands out of the crowd. Sure there's a few that have great voices, but there's more to performing than 'big ole voices.' I'd never pay to see any of them perform... well maybe Haley in a porno.

I'm glad Sanjaya made it. The judges are awful to him. It's not his fault that he's voted in week after week. Full marks to him for going out there every week, singing and performing despite the disapproval of the judges.

I had my cable disconnected for the last 3 weeks and last night I was able to watch AI. I think I'm glad my cable was off. Why is that "kid" still there. He is an insult to the other contestants and weakens the show's validity. I was a huge AI fan but I think I'll find a new hobby.

There is no way in hell Sanjaya should even have made the hollywood trip. He is the worst singer I have ever heard. The only reason why he is still around is that his country over seas is voting for him. This is "AMERICAN" idol. The only votes should come from America ONLY!! He would have been gone in the 1st round if that were the case.

This is becoming a real joke!! America, this is a SINGING CONTEST!!! Gina was really getting good!! Sanjaya has got to go!!! He's so poor!!! American Idol needs to have their judges be part of the voting, at least 50%!!! Go Melinda!!!

This is the point in Idol where I always become frustrated. When are they going to limit the number of votes per landline/isp address? I think it's unfortunate that Sunjaya is staying on when NO ONE would actually pay money to buy his albums.

NO! If this continues people are going to stop watching.............she was not the least talented. Sanjaya is horrible..........this is no longer a singing competition - it has become a popularity contest - there must be a heck of a lot of little pre-teens voting or some idots trying to scam the program by voting for the worst one to cause an upset.

I can't believe America thinks Sanjaya has more tallent than Gina???? What's happening? I'm not sure about American Idol this year. I thought it was for up and coming talents. Malinda is already a professional and does not belong on the stage with these hopefuls. Gina will be missed!

As a American Idol follower for the past few years, my interest has starting to fade with each weeks vote-offs. I hate to stand by and watch the good contestants get the boot when some contestants who clearly have no singing capabilities are left standing. What is going on? Quit voting off the good ones America!!!!

I wish that Sanjaya would just save the show and leave. After being a fan of the show each season, I am beginning to lose interest. The votes that he has been given are just a joke. Get real Sanjaya and get out.

No America did not get it right. There have been several great singers that have gone home before Sanjaya. I am sorry but he should not have even made the top 10!!!!

Of course America didn't make the right decision. Unlike Paula, I can't see why anyone would vote for Sanjaya. Rumors float around of sabatage and I believe them. People voting for the worst singers just to spite the show. There's no other explanation for the results. It's just a shame that some people are so shallow and ignorant to do something like that.

Every Wednesday night this American Idol Season, I continue to be shocked, amazed and totally frustrated at the lack of "common sense" Americans have. Obviously, those voting so heartily to keep their favorite in has got to be teeny-boppers or children between the ages of 6-14. No one honestly in their right mind would hear or see any talent in Sanjaya other than he has a sweet smile and beautiful hair. He absolutely could be called American Idol, but not going by the talent that he must present week after week. After years of Kelly, Clay, Carrie, Chris Daughtry, Bo Bice, and the like, we cannot honestly end up with a Sanjaya...........why he continues to stay on and other very talented young people are eliminated is beyond me. This may be the year that American Idol may need to rethink its voting methods. I have watched every single year and this year has been the most disappointing and frustrating to watch every Wednesday night. Sanjaya should have gone off weeks ago so that we could have been left with the very real talented contestants who want to battle it out on the stage to become America's real American Idol.

Gina should never have been voted off!! Sanjaya on the other hand NEEDS to go!! WHO IS VOTING!?!??!

I think the best two since the begining are Melinda and Lakisha. I agree with the bottom two of Sanjaya and Haley. They have been atrocious for the most part and should not have made it this far. I think the judges are just trying to find nice comments to say. But like everyone says Sanjaya might not be gone for a couple more weeks and I think that Haley gets voted off next.

Yes, America made the right choice. The show is called American Idol not Rocker Idol. She entered the wrong contest, could have left the tongue ring out and could have conformed more to American pop instead of British rock! Her singing was good but her personal push for maintaining a bad girl image cost her the title! Don't try out again Gina. You made your mark, wish you the best in the world of rock.

It's funny you know......How Howard Stern has created this awful act. His ratings are low, his fan base dwindling - so instead of creating a new a better platform for his show - lets waste the time of the remaining viewers by voting for American Idol are his listeners that bored with life that they have time for all of this. A message to Sanjaya: I think that you are a great kid - do you have the singing talent to be an American Idol no. Please step down with the integrity that you have remaining - you are making a mockery of the show and breaking the hearts of your friends that truly belong there. Go out a class act - not a laughing stock.

I am a somewhat avid fan of AI from down here in the Caribbean and it amazes me that people such as Sanjaya are still on the program. How on earth do Americans think? This is a singing contest and he clearly cannot sing! If this was the Caribbean, he would have been the first one off! Come on America, we expect more from you!!!!! Gina should be brought back, and Sanjaya should be dismissed!!

I thought it was a singing contest! Haley is on becasuse she has a great body and can wear very provocative & suggestive outfits and Sanjaya, well I have no clue. I think his time should have been over from the start!

That is it, I am now boycotting the show. I am finished with the farce that is American Idol. We are connected to the tv polling system, not that my one tv household not watching idol will make a difference but I hope it does.

To those who take seriously any American public opinions polls on any subject, I have one word to say: Sanjaya.

American Idol is a factory and their "stars" are a product. Sanjaya is great for them because even people like me who have never been interested in the show know about him and the "controversy" over his staying on week after week. I've never seen the show but I will vote for him After all, Howard Stern told me to right?. Heck, I may even watch if he stays on much longer! Speaking of "controversy" maybe just as many of the Amercan public can get on the phone and cast a "vote" towards our governement doing something about that pesky business in the Middle East. I hear something "controversial" has been going on for far too long over there. Something about someone who should never have been there in the first place staying on for far too long and making a mess of things.

My wife has an interest in AI and this is the first year I've even watched. I'm certain the intent to entertain and it is supposed to be a singing contest, but what is going on? There are obviously going to be inconsistant performances in any ongoing contests, but Sanjaya is very consistant. He is consistantly terrible, not cute and somehow a very sad figure. This is a tragedy for all the contestants on this year's show. Even the pathethic judges are cringing at the results. ALL the male singers are lesser talents than the females. Halley has a great look and I think she's idol material based on her vocals. If Melissa Doolittle doesn't win and Sanjaya doesn't simply quit, this will be the end of AI.

Here's how to get rid of Sanjaya: Don't open the voting until 8:30 p.m. All of the little eight-year-old girls who vote for him should be in bed by that time.

America got this one wrong too. Gina was one of the best finalists.
I think Howard Stern's little scheme is doing what it's intended to do....discrediting the integrity of the show. If that Sanjaya kid had any integrity himself, he would withdraw from the show and allow the ones with real talent to have a chance.

I am a 51 (as of today actually) year-old woman who knows nothing about the 'vote for the worst' website but have faithfully voted for Sanjaya because on the first night of the competition, when he sang a beautiful Tony Bennett song for his grandfather, the judges were heartless. He has a very nice voice and while he may not be the best - he certainly is not as bad as all the negative comments he's been receiving. The more I see these vicious comments the more I'm voting. So it's not just the under 12 group - I'm casting my votes too. Just a reminder, Sanjaya is not to blame for others voting for him - just take a look at who had and will have running for President - not a vote getter in the bunch for me. OK, maybe if Newt joins the pack - but that's another story for another time.

ok ... i LOVE howard stern BUT i don't think this discrediting of American Idol is funny. LOOK OUT howard, my love, this might BACKFIRE on you. Sanjaya - i'm sure you're a lovely person. BUT you should consider withdrawing from the competition. You are not AI material ... and isn't that why you're there? You are NOW on the show under false conditions. SHOW THEM ALL SANJAYA about real 'Peace' & 'Love' and QUIT! You'll be more proud of yourself for that accomplishment than ANY Idol accomplishment you could attain.

I was a huge Idol fan, key word being WAS! I didn't watch this week and am unsure if I will next week. When I do watch, I leave the room or change the tv to something else while Mr. MacAwful is on stage. Once upon a time, we loved to eat dinner on the couch while watching...guess that could be the next great diet plan...

This is proof that this show is no measure of talent. Katherine McFee couldn't sing in key if her very life depended upon it, and the fact that Sanjaya and Haley even made it to the voting stage is just a huge smack in the face to others who are more talented. On the bright side, you don't have to win on that show to get a recording contract (or an Oscar, as Jennifer Hudson proved!).

This show is about archetypes. In every season, there are three sizes of black women (large gospel belter who hits all the big notes, medium-sized woman with good voice but with big curly hair, and skinnier woman with short hair), one guy who is the "heart throb", one guy who is a bit scary looking but can sing ok, one chick who is beautiful but can't sing, etc.

I think we're lacking a rocker male (not the Chris Daughtry sense, but the guy that came in second behind Carrie) for the same reason why there isn't another Ruben or Taylor. They figure out what doesn't sell records afterwards and then go through pains not to repeat that mistake.

Sanjaya is this season's Chicken Little. Basically, they took Clay Aiken and dorkified him to the point where it's a source of amusement for the show that he's still around.

I truly can't believe Sanjaya is still on the show! I know if he makes it into the top three, I will never watch the show again. Because it will no longer be about talent, only popularity. What's the point?

This is the first year I've watched AI but I think the voting method and the judging need to be rethought. I agree with the suggestion that the judges continue to have a vote each week and I think it would be nice to have the judges change once in a while (like "So You Think You Can Dance?" did).
