From Entertainment Correspondent Dennis Michael
(CNN) -- "Toy Story" may be on the big screen right now, but the small screen experience can follow as soon as you get home. Disney's interactive branch has created a Sega Genesis game version of "Toy Story." The game is even being offered in some of the theaters showing the animated milestone.
If you think that's good planning, Disney Interactive's Hope
Neiman says it's just part of the Disney way.
"We believed all along that we had to be a part of the 'Toy Story' property," says Neiman. "That's why many of the key animations of our main characters are actually done by the same animators that made the film."
Some of the movie's breakthroughs are also part of the game
version. There's 3-D characters, and there's three and four
styles of game play. The reason for the variety is because
Disney put in various engines for the games. A Doom engine,
a side-scrolling engine, and a racecar engine are things that
have not been done in Sega Genesis games before.
If you don't have a Sega Genesis player, don't worry.
Super Nintendo, Macintosh, PC, and Next Generation game
platform versions are on the way. Disney wants to make sure
that "Toy Story" fans can enjoy their games, no matter what
kind of platform they have at home.
