'Drew Carey' marks 100th episode
Web posted on: Monday, April 19, 1999 2:48:04 PM EDT BURBANK, California (CNN) -- Drew Carey celebrated two milestones last week. Well, sort of. Carey's ABC sitcom, "The Drew Carey Show," reached the 100th-episode mark. Episode 100 is also the season-ender for the show's fourth season on the air. Carey and his co-stars marked the event with a party at the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank, California, where the show is shot. Although the cast cut a large cake commemorating the event, Carey wasn't much into celebrating. "I got to tell you, I don't even celebrate my birthday every year," said Carey. "So, to me, it's just like another show." "You know what this is like? When you have a birthday and all your relatives show up and you have to say, 'Hey, thanks for coming.' You have to be like that. That's how I feel right now," Carey laughed. The festivities also included the unveiling of a cast drawing by artist Al Hirshfeld, to which Carey joked, "I can't wait to sell it on Ebay!" The show, set in Carey's native Cleveland, features Carey, Diedrich Bader, Christa Miller and Ryan Stiles as everyday middle-class singles who are growing older, but not growing up. Episode 100 will feature a big dance number, which is not unusual for the sitcom -- several of the show's past episodes and opening titles included elaborate dance numbers with the cast.
