Depp

Johnny Depp in trouble with London law

LONDON (CNN) -- A clash with photographers has landed Johnny Depp in hot water. The 35-year-old actor was taken into custody and held for almost four hours after apparently threatening photographers with a piece of wood outside the Mirabelle restaurant on the West End early Sunday, authorities said. Depp was not charged.

Monday's newspapers carried photos of Depp clutching the wood, being questioned by police and then being taken into custody. The Sun tabloid said one of its photographers was among the group chased by Depp, who "flipped out" and started screaming obscenities when they tried to take his picture. He had been dining with French actress Vanessa Paradis, newspaper reports said.

Depp, star of such films as "Ed Wood" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," is in London working on the film "Sleepy Hollow," the newspapers said.

Reeve

Reeve attends ski event to support spinal research

VAIL, Colorado (CNN) -- Christopher Reeve, once an avid skier, returned to Vail for the first time since his paralyzing horseback riding accident to host this year's Bailey's American Ski Classic. Proceeds from the event go to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting research to find a cure for spinal cord paralysis. Reeve says it was hard for him to attend the event, and not be able to ski.

"When I first got here, I arrived in my room and looked at the slopes, and I had to take a minute to readjust," said Reeve, who competed in a celebrity race the last time he visited Vail. "Now, I'm having a very good time."

Reeve says recent progress in the search for a cure for spinal injuries means there is reason for him to hope. "I may not be able to ski again right away, but it certainly is not outside the realm of possibility," says the actor who starred as "Superman" on the silver screen.

Molinari

Molinari a mom, again

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Former congresswoman and ex-talk show host Susan Molinari gave birth to a seven-pound baby girl on Friday. Katherine Mary Paxon is Molinari's second daughter. "Overjoyed is the word," said father Bill Paxon, also an ex-congressional representative. Molinari, 41, gave birth by Caesarean section. The couple's first daughter, Susan Ruby, is 2. The proud mother quit Congress to make an ill-fated stab at television, briefly acting as co-host of "CBS News Saturday Morning." That stint ended in June.

Hamilton

Hamilton has warnings about success

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Linda Hamilton says success is nice, but it's also a burden. "Never create a legend, my dear, because either you have to live up to it or you have to live it down," Hamilton tells the February 6 edition of TV Guide. Hamilton's past roles include Catherine Chandler, tragic heroine of the television series "Beauty and the Beast," and Sarah Connor, the pumped-up mother in the "Terminator" films.

Along with her own success, Hamilton has also been dealing with something else of late -- the breakup of her marriage to "Titanic" director James Cameron. "There's no contact between us at all, and I'm extremely well and happy with my life. I am not destroyed. Actually, I was delivered by God when he left."

Cage

Cage to earn $20 million for latest gig

HOLLYWOOD (CNN) -- Nicolas Cage has committed to star in the remake of the 1974 car chase thriller "Gone in 60 Seconds." The picture is about a gang of car thieves -- with Cage as their leader -- and their attempt at one last heist of 50 cars for a shady Middle Eastern car dealer. Cage's character is desperate for the cash so he can help his younger brother get out of debt to the mob.

Cage, who won an Oscar for his role as a desperate drunk in "Leaving Las Vegas," will reportedly earn at least $20 million for his work, according to Variety. The actor's latest work, "8mm," will be in theaters soon.
