Davis
|
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Actors Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday night, complete with celebrity testimonials, a taped message from President Clinton, and performances by Stevie Wonder and Vanessa Williams. Clinton called the pair a national treasure at the New York gala, which benefited a dozen community theaters. Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier and baseball great Hank Aaron were among those attending.
Davis and Dee have appeared together in "Do the Right Thing" and "Jungle Fever," and have a new book called "With Ossie & Ruby: In This Life Together."
Dee says it wasn't exactly love at first sight when she met Davis. "I wasn't attracted to him," the actress said. "I didn't even like him." Dee says love often is hard work. "To arrive at love is like working on a double doctorate in the subject of life," Dee said of the couple's longevity. "I used to want to shout 'Help me!'"

Schwarzenegger
|
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Arnold Schwarzenegger may be back in a familiar role. The muscled actor has been in talks to bring back the cyborg "Terminator" for a third time. "Titanic" director James Cameron is planning to write and produce the film, according to Daily Variety.
The publication said that no contracts have been signed, but the project has generated a lot of enthusiasm. Schwarzenegger starred in the first two "Terminator" films -- the first time playing a murdering cyborg, and the second time playing a cyborg that helps save the day.

Fleiss
|
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- The Hollywood Madam is back in prison -- at her own request. Heidi Fleiss, convicted of running a prostitution ring for the rich and famous, asked to go back to prison three days after her release to a halfway house, her publicist said. She returned to prison on December 9. "She was very unhappy at the halfway house," said publicist Richard Pullman. He said she didn't give a reason. Fleiss, serving time for conspiracy, tax evasion and laundering call-girl profits, is scheduled to be released from prison in May.
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Laura Schlessinger -- radio therapist Dr. Laura -- has dropped a lawsuit she filed against Seattle-based Internet Entertainment Group, which posted 12 nude photographs of her on the Internet. Schlessinger had claimed invasion of privacy and copyright infringement, but a federal judge lifted a temporary injuction against the photos last month, saying they had already been viewed repeatedly.

Paltrow
|
LAWRENCE, Kansas (CNN) -- Ask and you shall receive -- if you're a movie star and you make your request on TV. Gwyneth Paltrow got her Christmas wish from Kansas shoe shop Footprints. The actress had said on a recent "Tonight Show" that she really wanted a pair of gray felt clogs that had been discontinued by shoemaker Birkenstock. Footprints owner Mick Ranney, who had a few left from a shipment he bought earlier this year, heard the request and is sending Paltrow the size 9 she requested. The gift comes in exchange for an autographed picture of Paltrow, who can currently be seen in "Shakespeare In Love," starring opposite Joseph Fiennes. She has also starred in films like "Sliding Doors" and "A Perfect Murder."

Buffett
|
OMAHA, Nebraska (CNN) -- Warren Buffett made his musical debut as Daddy Warbucks in "Annie." The billionaire donned a bald wig and belted out a rousing, slightly off-key version of "Tomorrow" during a benefit performance for the Omaha Theater company for Young People. The chairman of Berskshire Hathaway Inc. drew a healthy applause and a few chuckles for his performance.
Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey appeared in the show as well -- as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Kerrey announced Sunday that he wouldn't launch a campaign for president in 2000, but joked during the performance that it sounded good when his character was addressed as "Mr. President." "Maybe I made the wrong decision," he said.
