Estefans victims of $250,000 heistMIAMI BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- Police say about $250,000 in antique watches were stolen from the home of Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio while they were on vacation last month. Police added that there was no apparent sign of forced entry to the couple's palatial gated estate on Miami's Star Island. "At this time we're interviewing anybody who had knowledge of Mr. Estefan's personal property which will include employees of the Estefan organization," said Al Boza, a police spokesman. Cuban-born singer Gloria Estefan reported the theft after the Thanksgiving holiday. Police believe the watches were taken between November 9 and November 27.
Bobby Brown turns himself in to policeFORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (CNN) -- Bobby Brown says he wants to "clean up his record." The singer who is married to Whitney Houston turned himself in Thursday on an arrest warrant issued after a report that he was drunk when he surrendered in September to serve time for drunken driving. An upset judge released Brown on $2,500 bail, but said he was losing patience. "I'm no longer inclined to give him any more consideration and to treat him any differently than any other defendant that walks through these courthouse doors," Judge Leonard Feiner said. As Brown left the courthouse, he apologized for his actions and told reporters that he wanted to enjoy a sober life. "I'm making efforts to clean up my record," he said. "I'm sorry for the disrespect I caused anybody." Fox wunderkind signs multimillion-dollar dealHOLLYWOOD (CNN) -- Seth MacFarlane is the latest creative wunderkind to hit the Hollywood jackpot. The 25-year-old creator of Fox's highly anticipated midseason animated comedy "Family Guy" has signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Twentieth Century Fox TV. The overall pact is for at least three years, but it locks up his services for two more years beyond that if the Rupert Murdoch-owned studio wants to keep him. Fox is guaranteeing MacFarlane $2 million to $2.5 million for the first three years, and if "Family Guy" stays on the air, he gets large increases the final two years of the deal. "Family Guy," an irreverent series about the dysfunctional Griffin family, probably won't be ready to air on a weekly basis until March, but there's a strong chance Fox will launch the first episode following the Super Bowl. It may also land the plum Sunday 8:30 p.m. time slot between "The Simpsons" and "The X-Files." MacFarlane appears to be taking his newly acquired fortune with a sense of humor. "I have worked very hard to get where I am and I am not about to be intimidated by some stupid Indian curse," he said.
'Peter Pan' moving to new Broadway homeNEW YORK (CNN) -- "Peter Pan" is flying to a new home on Broadway. The musical will reopen at the Neil Simon Theater in early April, after ending its limited holiday-season run at the Marquis Theater on January 3. The show, which stars gymnast Cathy Rigby in the green tights, was supposed to tour Canada for eight weeks beginning in January, but those plans have been scratched. The show has already recouped its $4 million investment, according to a production source, and looks to be a strong enough hit to run through the spring and summer. The show is expected to run until early fall of 1999. Reuters Limited contributed to this report.
