Jones

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) -- Actor Tommy Lee Jones fell from a horse Friday afternoon while riding on a polo field, but was not seriously hurt, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Jones, 52, was taken to Hermann Hospital in Houston, where tests showed his injury "amounted to nothing," hospital spokeswoman Deborah Radowick said.

Initially, there was concern that Jones may have suffered a serious spinal injury, but after several hours in the emergency room at the hospital it was determined he was not seriously hurt.

The accident happened Friday afternoon on a ranch in Austin County, Texas, she said.

Jones told his publicist that his horse was running fast down a straightaway when it stumbled. The actor was launched over the horse's head and the horse stepped on him, said publicist Jennifer Allen.

Jones was taken to Hermann Hospital by lifeflight helicopter.

Allen said that Jones would remain in the hospital for observation until Saturday.

Flockhart

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Calista Flockhart is trying to put to rest rumors that she has an eating disorder. The "Ally McBeal" star tells People magazine she may have dropped three to five pounds in the past year from giving up her favorite junk food: pizza. But she insists she's perfectly healthy. "I eat normally. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't have a messed-up relationship with food," Flockhart says.

Reports began to surface that Flockhart had a weight problem when she showed up at the Emmys last month looking waif-thin. "I felt special that night, and it has really hurt my feelings that everyone has held up that picture and said it's shocking, horrible, disturbing," the 33-year-old said.

Fawcett

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- The ex-boyfriend of Farrah Fawcett has been sentenced to a non-jail term for slamming her head into a pavement during a fight -- a punishment prosecutors called "outrageous." James Orr, 44, was ordered to perform community service at a battered women's shelter and undergo counseling.

"The judge in this matter has seen fit to give Mr. Orr 100 hours of community service," Deputy District Attorney Lara Bloomquist said. "That is an outrageous sentence for the seriousness of this assault." But Orr's lawyer, Donald Wager, said the case never should have reached court at all, and blamed the "extreme position" taken by the district attorney's office for his client's conviction.

A jury convicted Orr on August 18 of one misdemeanor count of battery for beating Fawcett's head into the driveway of his Bel Air mansion during a heated argument last January. Fawcett, 52, who reached sex-symbol fame when she starred in the 1970s show "Charlie's Angels," admitted smashing several windows in Orr's house and attacking his car with a baseball bat.

GREENSBORO, North Carolina (CNN) -- A security guard has sued rockers Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx of the metal group Motley Crue for allegedly assaulting him at a concert, and inciting the crowd to attack others.

John F. Allen's lawsuit, filed in federal court Wednesday, says he was kicked and spit on by bass guitarist Sixx during a concert at Greensboro Coliseum on October 30, 1997. The guard contends that Sixx told the crowd to assault other guards, and that the crowd responded by throwing cups and rushing at the guards. Lee, the band's drummer, poured beer on Allen and Sixx used a racial slur to describe Allen, who is black, the lawsuit alleges.

Allen seeks compensatory damages of $75,000 for each of a number of claims, including assault, battery, slander and civil rights violations. Lee was convicted earlier this year of spousal abuse for kicking his wife, former "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson. He served about four months in jail and is free on probation.

Jimmy Buffett was one of several celebrities attending Thursday's space shuttle lanuch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (CNN) -- Evander Holyfield, Leonardo DiCaprio, Prince Felipe of Spain, and Jimmy Buffett were just some of the celebrities spotted at Thursday's historic shuttle Discovery launch that sent John Glenn into space. A whole list of celebrities had been anticipated at the Kennedy Space Center. Due to the placement of viewing areas for VIPs, only a few were spotted by the media. Others public figures attending included Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and Ted Williams. Members of the band Aerosmith were reportedly spotted as well.

DiCaprio might have avoided journalists' notice entirely, except that he stopped to chat with a shuttle astronaut on the way out. A White House staffer prevented a photographer from taking pictures, and the actor declined to talk to a reporter before getting on a bus.

"Sesame Street"

(CNN) -- The children's television show "Sesame Street" might be celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, but it's a bittersweet time for some of the show's stars. Roscoe Orman, who has played science teacher Gordon since 1973, tells USA Weekend that the times have changed for the worse. "There's a lot more cynicism," he says. "We've tried to maintain a flame of idealism, but we've tempered it."

Sonia Manzano, who played mother and shopkeeper Maria for 26 years, agrees. "'Sesame Street' was created in idealistic times," she says. "There was more serious concern for children. Now we live in a society that makes believe it cares for kids."
