Former intern suing Jay Leno over Clinton joke
NOVI, Michigan (CNN) -- A former Justice Department intern is suing "The Tonight Show" host Jay Leno over a gag based on a college recruitment brochure that bore a picture of her with President Clinton and boasted of opportunities for "hands-on experience." The photo, which was used in an Albion College brochure, shows Carrie Photsios standing next to Clinton during her internship in Washington. Leno read from the brochure on his February 9 show. Photsios, 24, contends she suffered "embarrassment, humiliation and indignity" and is seeking more than $75,000 from Leno and three other defendants, including Detroit's WDIV-TV, which aired the show. Michigan Press Association attorney Dawn Phillips Hertz said that Leno's comments clearly were in jest, so Photsios' lawsuit "is going nowhere." Loretta Lynn to revisit early years in Washington state
BELLINGHAM, Washington (CNN) -- Loretta Lynn believes you can go home again. She says having to leave again will be the hard part after she performs this week at the Northwest Washington Fair, where she once won a talent show. The 63-year-old country singer began her career playing at Bellingham's Delta Grange hall in 1958 and at the now-defunct Bill's Tavern in Blaine, near the Canadian border. Lynn and her family lived in the area until 1961. She raised four children there before heading to Nashville. "I just can't wait to come back, but what hurts me most, honey, is having to leave," Lynn told the Bellingham Herald. "That's home for me up there. All my memories are there and all my kids' memories are there." Jeff Conaway will appear in film about Andy Kaufman
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Jeff Conaway will appear in "Man on the Moon," a biographical film about Andy Kaufman, despite the fact that he once slugged his "Taxi" co-star. Conaway said he punched Kaufman during a celebration after an awards show. "I asked Andy, 'Why do you treat us all like crap?'" Conaway told TV Guide. "He got right in my face and said, 'Because I don't give a (expletive) about any of you.'" Conaway said there were apologizes the next day. "The funny thing is, I was talking to his manager the other day, and he told me how much Andy liked me, especially after the fight. I didn't fully appreciate Andy and his brilliant or insane humor at the time. I do now." The film, scheduled for summer 1999 release, will star Jim Carrey as "Taxi" funnyman Kaufman, who died in 1984. Conaway is one of several actors who will play themselves in the film. Celine Dion recorded 'Titanic' song in one take
BOSTON (CNN) -- Celine Dion said her Oscar-winning "Titanic" song was recorded in one take. The version of "My Heart Will Go On" on the soundtrack was intended to be a demo, but turned out so well that it didn't need to be recorded again, she said. "Technically, I could have done it better but emotionally it was there," the singer told The Boston Globe. "Everybody was crying (in the studio) and I think there's something good in that." The soundtrack has sold 25 million copies, making it the all-time bestseller in the soundtrack category. Dion starts a tour next weekend in Boston. Reuters contributed to this report.
