Baldwin
|
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Actor Alec Baldwin testified in a civil court hearing on Tuesday that he and his Oscar-winning actress wife Kim Basinger feared for their safety in public ever since a confrontation with a photographer nearly three years ago.
The hearing is attempting to resolve dueling lawsuits brought by the photographer, Alan Zanger, and Baldwin. The actor was acquitted of criminal charges stemming from the incident, in which he punched Zanger as the photographer tried to snap pictures of the Hollywood couple as they brought their baby daughter Ireland home from the hospital in October 1995.
"You don't always want to go places in a bubble," Baldwin said in the Tuesday hearing. "Sometimes you just want to go to a (Los Angeles) Dodgers (baseball) game."

Grodin
|
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Charles Grodin is back in the talk show business. His self-titled show has been picked up by MSNBC just five weeks after CNBC unceremoniously dumped it. "Charles Grodin" will debut at 8 p.m. on Saturday, using much the same monologue-and-social-issues format as the old cable show. The new gig will run an hour and be rerun twice on Sundays and once Mondays.
NEW YORK (CNN) -- The Kinks are back, sort of. Starting this week, the group's albums from 1971 to 1984 are being reissued on compact disc. Included with the classic songs will be previously unheard bonus tracks that lead Kink Ray Davies says were just recently found at the end of the old production tapes. As for having to promote his work again, Davies says the process makes him "just as angry" as when the albums first came out.

Carey
|
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Pop singer Mariah Carey will be seen on a public service announcement seeking information in the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl who was one of her fans. "I do what I do for my fans, and if someone is in need of help, the least I can do is draw attention to the case," Carey said Tuesday. The spot was to begin airing on Wednesday. Christina Williams vanished June 12 while walking her dog at Fort Ord, a former military base. She last was seen wearing an Oakland Raiders jacket, jeans and a striped blouse.
