LONDON (CNN) -- Cher first caught our attention in 1965 as she and Sonny Bono lit up the charts with their very '60s love song, "I Got You Babe."
Now, more than 30 years later, Cher is reinventing herself on a new dance album entitled "Believe." She says any studio album is hard for her to make, because she belongs in front of an audience.
"I really don't think of myself as a singer," she says. "I think of myself as an entertainer, and the best place I do it is onstage."
The album release marks a rebound for Cher, who was dealt a tragedy last winter when Bono was killed in a skiing accident. Though they had been divorced for many years, Cher has good memories of her time with Bono.
"There's just things that are meant to be and that was one of them," she says. "It wasn't an accident that he and I met and went on an unbelievable, strange trip together."
