(CNN) -- Some of the names have changed, but the songs remain the same for the band Chicago. Original members Walt Parazaider, Robert Lamm, Jimmy Pankow, and Lee Loughlane, have been joined by Jason Sheff, Bill Champlin, Keith Howland, and Tris Imboden to form the current incarnation of the band that has topped charts with numerous hits over the years, and released its first album when the Beatles were still together.

The band recently released a new Christmas album -- its 25th -- titled "Chicago 25."

Parazaider says the album was recorded in April, but that didn't mean the studio was lacking holiday spirit.

"Well, we had a lot of fun with this," says Parazaider. "First of all, the second engineer came in and he put Christmas lights on the inside. So I went home, got an inflatable tree. Jimmy got a poinsettia plant with a reindeer holder and all this stuff.

"So we got into the Christmas spirit in April, right, and it was 90 degrees out or whatever. We had as much fun as we had on any other album doing this. And when we got done, it was a 90-degree day. And if it would have start snowing outside in L.A., I wouldn't have been surprised, because we really got into the spirit of it."

Chicago played their rendition of "Little Drummer Boy" on CNN's Showbiz Today.
