Chicago gets a taste of the Doobie BrothersWeb posted on: Friday, July 03, 1998 2:33:42 PM EDT
Taste of Chicago main page CHICAGO (CNN) -- A day at the lake, a giant picnic in the park. Throw in some music and the soulful sounds of the Doobie Brothers and you have "Taste of Chicago". The Doobie Brothers performed at this year's "Taste of Chicago," where founding members Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston talked with CNN's Showbiz Today about their new album. "We've been working on it, I don't know, the better part of a year, putting the songs together, and it's kind of a mixture of a new direction, but a lot of old Doobie Brothers' sounds," says Simmons. "So it's a little R&B, a little rock 'n' roll, a little blues, a little folk, a little salsa, everything." The Doobie Brothers just played the 95th Anniversary for Harley Davidson and also played at the New Orleans Jazz Festival before heading to "Taste of Chicago." "I just wanted to go to it for years, let alone play it," Johnston says of the New Orleans jazz fest. "I think everybody here was real thrilled about it. The caliber of people that are playing there, wow -- I admire everybody that was playing." The Doobie Brothers performed for CNN Showbiz Today. Check it out. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
