Miss Julie

Miss Julie (Saffron Burrows) is an impulsive aristocrat who encourages her father's footman, Jean (Peter Mullan), to seduce her. Jean, who is engaged to Christine (Maria Doyle Kennedy), uses Julie to try to rise above his class. Mike Figgis, of "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995) fame, wrote and directed this drama. Official site.

Based on the John Irving novel, this drama focuses on the life of Homer Welles (Tobey Maguire), a boy who spends the first 20 years of his life in a Maine orphanage under the tutelage of Dr. Wilbur Larch (Michael Caine).
