(CNN) -- LucasFilms released its second trailer for the highly anticipated "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" to news media and Internet users Thursday. The two-minute, 30-second-long trailer won't be shown in theaters until Friday.
In a press release, LucasFilms said the trailer offers "a glimpse at the scope of the whole movie." In contrast, a "teaser trailer" released in November focused on the character Anakin Skywalker (in the movie series, Luke Skywalker's father and the eventual leader of the evil Empire, Darth Vader).
The movie footage shown in the latest trailer is entirely different from that seen in the earlier release.
The first trailer was released to much hoopla: Some Star Wars fans went so far as to purchase movie tickets for the sole purpose of watching the trailer -- then left the theater before the main feature began. The release date for the film inspiring all this attention? U.S. theaters will get "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" first, on May 19.
