HOLLYWOOD (CNN) -- It's Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan.

The latest actor to portray to durable double-agent in the new Bond film "Goldeneye," Brosnan follows the likes of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and several others. So how does he put his own stamp on Bond? Brosnan says his goal is to make the character as real as possible.

Stunt

"This man has a life as a secret agent," says Brosnan. "This man kills people, this man is a widower. This man is sent out on missions to retrieve someone or something -- he could die."

Staring death in the face is part of what the Bond movies are known for. They're also remembered for their breathtaking stunts. And to make "Goldeneye" seem as real as possible, Brosnan did his own stunts. But it didn't come without a price.

"the body gets weary when you do these shoots," he says, "it aches, it groans ... you feel it when you get out of bed at five in the morning and you have to go in carrying on, doing the fight sequence."

Isabella Scorupco Famke Janssen

Besides the action, what would a Bond film be without the Bond girls? This time, Brosnan is joined on the silver screen by Polish born Isabella Scorupco. The two fight with another beauty, the Dutch born Famke Janssen. And according to Janssen, "Goldeneye" is everything that you would expect out of a Bond film, and more. For Brosnan himself, it almost seems as if he was destined to play the role. Bond and Brosnan intersected very early in the actor's life. For the 11-year-old from Ireland, Bond's "Goldfinger" (104K AIFF sound or 104K WAV sound) was his first movie experience -- and it was magical. In another ironic twist, Brosnan's late wife Cassandra Harris appeared in "For Your Eyes Only," a Bond film with Roger Moore. (72K AIFF sound or 72K WAV sound)

The former Remington Steele star says he never wanted the role specifically. The fantasy of Bond seems at times so far away from his reality: The reality of survival after losing his wife to ovarian cancer, and the reality of raising three children. So off screen, Brosnan is a family man. But it's his on screen depiction of the bachelor Bond that many critics are toasting, and many movie-goers will be eager to see.

It's the big Hollywood premiere, and what are the stars' ideal James Bond?

Here's a sampling of their opinions (448K QuickTime movie).
