HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- The best of the cybercinema thrillers to come out last year is now on home video. "The Net" features current Hollywood sweetheart Sandra Bullock in a twisted, paranoid cyberfantasy. The plot, which is believable, centers on the fact that everyone's life is on the computer net. Therefore, the big "they" can take it away with a few keystrokes. So go ahead and watch this film, just back up your hard drive first.
This week's other new release is "Lord of Illusions." But it's easier to tell you what the film isn't than to tell you what it is. It isn't a remake of a 1950s horror film, and it isn't another remake of "Silence of the Lambs." It is the first of several projected adventures of cult detective Harry D'Amour. The character is created by the movie's director, horror writer Clive Barker. One thing about the movie though, it definitely isn't for kids, and not even most adults. But it is a very disturbing and wild ride.
See you at the rental counter.
