Courtney Cox

Has Courtney Cox abandoned her "Friends" for a fright? The Hollywood Reporter indicates the actress has signed to star in "Scary Movie" to be directed by horror movie veteran Wes Craven. Actress Drew Barrymore will also star in the film. Shooting is scheduled to begin next month.



The Beatles have risen to the top of the rock world again. Their newly released "Anthology Volume Two" entered the Billboard album charts this week at number one with sales of more than 400,000 copies in its first week of release.



Cybil Shepard


"Cybill" fans take note... CBS has ordered another season of the situation comedy. That means more of Cybill and Maryanne this fall.



For those who missed it in theaters, the Oscar-nominated "Il Postino" is set for release on home video. The Italian comedy is due to be released on June 25th. "Il Postino" was the first foreign language film to be nominated for best picture in 25 years.



Actors Laura San Giacomo and George Segal are preparing a pilot for NBC. The show, entitled "Just Shoot Me", will feature the actors as father and daughter working together on a fashion magazine.



Belushi

Jim Belushi is temporarily leaving comedies behind for a thriller. Daily Variety reports Belushi will co-star with actors Rob Lowe and Dean Stockwell in "The Peril of Being Walter Woods". Shooting for the film has already begun in Los Angeles.



Hešs already saved the world as James Bond; now, actor Pierce Brosnan is taking a different approach. Brosnan is set to do public service announcements for the Earth Communications Office to promote "Earth Day" and efforts surrounding the event. The spots will air in long form in theaters and in short form on television.



Malcolm McDowell will take his acting expertise to the small screen. Daily Varietyšs "Dish" column reports the actor will go-star with Rhea Perlman in "Pearl" for CBS. Perlman will play a middle-aged woman studying at Harvard with McDowell as one of her professors as well as her tormentor.




Streissand

Barbara Streisand has completed principal photography on "The Mirror Has Two Faces" except for a couple of scenes that require spring foliage, according to Daily Variety. The singer, actress and director has been so busy with the project that shešs decided against directing another production entitled "The Normal Heart" and has discussed the project with potential directors.
