International martial arts/comedy star Jackie Chan will be at the Academy Awards as a presenter. Chan is currently on screens in his comedy thriller "Rumble in the Bronx." This will be Chan's first appearance at the Oscars.

Oliver Stone is taking a break from semi-historical films and biographies. Stone reportedly will direct "Smokejumpers" for Warner Brothers. The action film is about parachutists who fight brush fires.

Pierce Brosnan is considering an interim film project before he begins work on the next James Bond film. Daily Variety says Universal Studios is offering the actor $5 million to star in the volcano thriller "Dante's Peak."
Chris Isaak was the big winner at this year's annual Bay Area Music Awards. Isaak and his band, Silvertone, won four Bammies. They were nominated for five awards in the 19th annual awards competition.

Michael Douglas met some future film wizards over the weekend. The actor and producer presented awards to a group of student computer-film Graphics artists at the Annual Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Country music meets corporate strategic alliance. Country singer Tracy Lawrence is working with Country Star restaurants, the restaurant chain with a country theme. He has donated memorabilia to Country Star in Las Vegas. Vince Gill, Reba McEntire and Wynonna Judd are among the principals in the business.
Martin Lawrence is moving on to a new film project. The actor's first outing as a director, "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate," will be released to theaters soon. Daily Variety says Lawrence has signed to star with Tim Robbins in the comedy "Nothing to Lose." Shooting is to begin in April at Touchstone.
Director Joe Dante will direct the action film based on the long-running cartoon series, "The Jetsons." The film is expected to begin shooting by the end of summer.
