HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino celebrated its first year of operation around the world's largest guitar-shaped birthday cake.



The United Kingdom won't be getting Oliver Stone's movie "Natural Born Killers" in Home Video, at least not on schedule. The film was to be released mid-March from Warner Home Video's United Kingdom division, but the release has been suspended in the wake of the shooting tragedy in Scotland. The company will decide at a date still to be determined, when and if the film will come out.

Robert Zemeckis will be attending the Oscars. The filmmaker behind last year's Oscar champ "Forrest Gump" will be on this year's Academy Awards as a presenter. The Oscars will be broadcast on Monday, March 25.



Drescher

Fran Drescher's movie is on a front burner at Paramount. Daily Variety reports the studio has picked up "The Beautician and the Beast" from Caravan Pictures, with an eye toward releasing it next year. The film is a contemporary retelling of The King and I," Drescher will play a beautician from Queens who finds herself tutoring an eastern European monarch.



Actress Tia Carerre is considering prime time. The actress is set to star in a pilot for Disney television. The show is a drama, called "Desert Breeze" intended for the Fox network. The show is an ensemble series set in Las Vegas.

Now, what Rob Lowe really wants to do is direct. Daily Variety reports the actor has signed on with Chanticleer Films to direct a short film. It's currently being developed under the title "American Untitled."



Robin Williams and Flubber -- together? The comic is reportedly in negotiations with Disney studios for a new version of the 1960 comedy "The Absent Minded Professor." Daily Variety reports John Hughes is producing the remake of the Fred McMurray comedy.



Sylvester Stallone is interested in a script -- so interested he wants to rearrange his schedule in order to do it. Daily Variety reports Stallone wants to be released from a Warner Brothers project in order to do "Copland," a police drama set in a small New Jersey town.



101 Dalmations

Better get used to having spotted dogs around. Along with plans to release a live action version of Disney's "101 Dalmatians" -- the entertainment company is now bringing Pongo, Perdy and the pups to kid video. The studio plans a half hour animated series based on the 1961 feature, to debut in 1997.
