HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) -- With "Titanic" sailing on and on, is
it any surprise that "The Love Boat" is setting out to sea
again? No, not the feature that was scheduled at Disney: That
picture is now in dry dock. But there is a new "Love Boat" TV
series. UPN has ordered six episodes sans pilot and the
Princess line is already piping Aaron Spelling aboard -- with
an all-new cast, from skipper to a shipload of guest stars.
The original "Love Boat" series gave a major push to the
now-enormous cruise ship business. This is the first series
venture for Spelling with UPN, whose Viacom parent owns 80
percent of Spelling Entertainment. Spelling has two series on
Fox -- Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210 -- with 7th
Heaven at WB and Sunset Beach on NBC.

Berenger donates Civil War flag
COLUMBIA, South Carolina (AP) -- Tom Berenger gave South
Carolina an 1861 Confederate flag believed to have been
flying in Charleston when the first shots of the Civil War
were fired at Fort Sumter. Berenger, the "Platoon" actor and
Civil War buff, presented the flag to state House Speaker
David Wilkins during Wednesday's legislative session. Wilson
thanked him, saying he was "proud to call (Berenger) a South
Carolinian." The actor, who has lived in Beaufort County
since filming "The Big Chill" there in 1982, didn't speak and
was ushered from the chamber by a cadre of House members. The
flag likely will be given to the State Museum or the state
Confederate Relic Room and Museum for display. Louise Majors,
spokeswoman for the state Budget and Control Board that
oversees the relic room, said museum officials had not yet
authenticated the banner. Wilkins, a lawyer who represented
the actor during his divorce last year, would not say how
much Berenger paid for the flag, except that it was "a
sizable amount."

Diana movie being shot for TV
PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain (AP) -- The shooting of a TV movie
about Princess Diana's last year began Wednesday on this
Mediterranean island. "The People's Princess -- A Tribute"
ends with the Mercedes carrying Diana and boyfriend Dodi
Fayed entering the Paris underpass where the couple died in a
crash last August. "The focus will be the romance between
Diana and Dodi as well as her anti-mine campaigns in Bosnia
and Angola and her relationship with her boys," said Ruth
Settle, spokeswoman for Mirror Television, which is financing
the project. British actress Amy Seccombe takes on her first
major film role in the part of Diana. George Jackos plays
Fayed. "I'm not about to start a career as a Diana lookalike"
said Seccombe, a graduate of the London Academy of Performing
Arts. "I'm an actress and this is a fantastic role."

Phish repeats summer festival one year later
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- Phish fans, mark your calendars: The
band will reprise its summer festival at the former Air Force
bomber base that was the site of last year's concert. The
rock band from Burlington, Vermont, will perform at Loring
Commerce Center in Limestone on August 14-16, exactly a year
after the "Great Went" gathering drew tens of thousands of
fans to northern Maine and pumped about $25 million into the
area economy. About 70,000 tickets were sold or given out
last year, turning the base briefly into Maine's largest
city. Dave Werlin, president of Phish concert promoter Great
North Productions of Massachusetts, said Wednesday that
ticket information won't be available until spring.
