Whitney The story of how Whitney Houston cut her face while vacationing in Italy has changed. The singer and actress originally said the cut, which needed two stitches, occurred when she struck a rock while swimming. But a crew member on her yacht was quoted as saying it happened on board, and now Houston agrees, saying she fell and hit her head "on a plate or something."

A wealth of new video releases hit stores this week led by the Oscar-winning "Sling Blade" with Billy Bob Thornton and Dwight Yoakum. Also new in stores is Johnny Depp as an undercover cop who befriends mobster Al Pacino in "Donny Brasco" and Kenneth Branaugh's version of Shakespeare's "Hamlet."

The story of the original "Superman" may be coming to the big screen. A movie about George Reeves, who allegedly committed suicide in 1959, is being made. However, the movie will be based on a novel claiming he was murdered. Whoopi Goldberg will be executive producer. Superman

Nathan Lane Actor Nathan Lane, who will be seen later this year in the DreamWorks comedy "The Mouse Hunt," may team with another name from Broadway in his next movie. Even with higher ticket prices, this summer's box office receipts so far are 4 percent behind last year's take. That adds up to $60 million less. Critics say it's because this year's crop of summer films hasn't excited moviegoers as much as last summer's movies.

A story that won several awards at the British Film Festival is headed for U.S. movie theaters. "Alive and Kicking" follows two very different gay men through their lives in swinging London. The film begins in limited release in New York and Los Angeles.
