LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Pop megastar Michael Jackson married the
woman carrying his
baby shortly after midnight in a private ceremony in Sydney,
Australia, his publicist said.

Jackson, 38, exchanged vows with Debbie Rowe, 37, a longtime
friend and nurse to his plastic surgeon, said publicist
Christine Holevas.
"Please respect our privacy and let us enjoy this wonderful
and exciting time," Jackson said in a written
statement.
Jackson, whose hits include "Beat It" and "Bad," was in
Australia as part of the first leg of his
"HIStory" world tour.
The wedding took place 10 days after Jackson
announced that Rowe was six-months pregnant with his child,
which is due in February. It is the second marriage for both.
In January, Jackson's first wife, Lisa Marie Presley, cited
irreconcilable differences in a divorce petition to end her
20-month marriage to the pop star. There was no information
about the first marriage of Rowe, who lives in the Los
Angeles suburb of Van Nuys.
Jackson disclosed November 4 that Rowe was carrying his
child.
He denied tabloid reports that Rowe had been artificially
inseminated and was paid $528,000 to carry the baby. But at
the time there was no mention of wedding plans.
"I am thrilled that I will soon be a father. ... This is my
dream come true," Jackson said in a statement at the time.
