Denzel Washington has been cast in the film "Fallen," but his star appeal has done anything but that. Daily Variety reports the actor will get $12 million for starring in the Turner Pictures film. Washington received $10 million for "Courage Under Fire."

Rutger Hauer has a new project in the works. The actor is set to star as the captain in "Death of a Yankee." The Hollywood Reporter trade paper notes the film will be produced by HBO Premiere Movies. Shooting on the political thriller begins in Berlin in September.

Tia Carerre makes her return to movies opposite Kevin Sorbo in "Kull the Conqueror." Sorbo, best known for his starring role as "Hercules" in the weekly syndicated series will star as Kull, another character from the creator of "Conan the Barbarian." Carerre will play the 3,000-year-old sorceress Akivasha.

"Get Shorty" continues to rule the Billboard magazine home video rentals chart. "Casino" continues in second place followed by "Leaving Las Vegas," "Goldeneye" and "Heat."
"Twister" is blowing away the competition in Japan and Brazil. Swedish audiences are lining up for "The Rock." "Twelve Monkeys" has climbed to the top in Italy and in the United Kingdom, "Mission: Impossible" is tops.
Mira Sorvino's film "Sweet Nothing" has found a distributor. Warner Brothers acquired the distribution rights to the critically acclaimed film and will open the picture in Los Angeles and New York in early September.

Jennifer Tilly will be the latest star to team up with comedian Jim Carrey. Tilly has joined the cast of "Liar, Liar" which is currently shooting in Los Angeles. Daily Variety reports Tilly will play Carrey's ex-wife. Carrey will play a lawyer who is also a compulsive liar in the comedy.

B.B King is headed to Eastern Europe. The blues legend is set to perform at the end of next week for two USO shows for American troops in Bosnia.

Glen Campbell is leaving Branson, Missouri. The singer says he wants to spend more time with his family in Arizona and take his musical act out on the road. Campbell has performed for the last three years at the Glen Campbell Good Time Theater.
