Gregory Peck got more than a Lifetime Achievement award on a recent trip to the Czech Republic -- he also got an appendectomy. The actor reportedly fell ill over the weekend after receiving the award at the Karlovy Vary festival. The Hollywood Reporter indicates he's improving at a Czech health spa and is expected to be released in about a week.
Director John Badham will step into the role of director for the film "Incognito." The Hollywood Reporter trade paper indicates the filmmaker is taking over the reins of the Morgan Creek film. Director Peter Weller was let go two weeks into the production, due to "creative differences."
The aliens of "Independence Day" continue to slaughter the competition. The film is No. 1 for the second week in a row in the highly competitive summer box-office battle. In 12 days of release, the blockbuster has taken in $161 million in ticket sales.
