Brooks

Want more proof that Garth Brooks is number one with country music fans? Brooks showed up unannounced at Nashville's yearly Fan Fair, and stayed to sign autographs for 23 hours. That's twice as long as the old record, also held by Brooks.

A classic makes its way to your video store. The 1982 film "E.T." is going back on the for-sale shelves, according to the Hollywood Reporter, and details on a cross-promotion deal will be announced Monday. New copies of the classic film haven't been shipped to stores since 1992.

"Kiss" returns. Yes, the rock group that thrilled fans and terrified their parents in the '70s has reunited for a summer tour beginning June 28 in Detroit. The 40-something rockers haven't played together since 1979.

Merrick

You've heard of competition among actors, now there's competition among acting awards. Producer David Merrick, who got mad when his musical "State Fair" didn't qualify for a Tony this year, has decided to create a competing award called (what else?), the Merrick Award.

Mark Harmon might be returning to making hospital rounds. The Hollywood Reporter says Harmon is talking with producers of the CBS drama "Chicago Hope" about joining the series. Harmon last played a doctor in the '80s medical series, "St. Elsewhere."

Foxworthy

The "Jeff Foxworthy" show isn't just getting a station change this fall; it's getting a whole new family. The sitcom, which is switching from ABC to NBC, will recast Foxworthy's wife and son and will also move the family from Indiana to Atlanta.

Here's a good talk show topic ... is Montel Williams guilty of sexual harassment? The talk show host is being accused of sexual harassment by two former members of his staff. The two women claim they were fired when they complained about what they called verbal and physical harassment. Williams denies the charges and says he's being sued for financial gain.

McDonald's new ad campaign has animal rights groups squealing. The give-away features "Babe" pig toys in children's Happy Meals, but activists say it sends out a mixed message since McDonald's also sells its new Arch Deluxe burger with bacon. The pig giveaway begins Friday as part of a pay-per-view cable promotion for the Oscar-winning film.
