Gene Hackman

Gene Hackman has joined the cast of "Absolute Power." He will work with Clint Eastwood, Ed Harris and Scott Glenn on the film. Hackman previously worked with Eastwood in the critically acclaimed movie "Unforgiven."



Crosby, Stills and Nash are back on the road. The veteran supergroup will begin their tour, the first in two years, with a gig in Houston later this month.



It's Brian-palooza '96! Bryan Adams and the Brian Setzer orchestra have collaborated on a "VH-1 Duets" segment for the station that will air later this month. The concert was taped in Los Angeles in late March.



After only a few weeks on the air, ABC is pulling the plug on "The Dana Carvey Show." The show turned off sponsors but didn't turn off audiences. The last taped episode will air sometime after sweeps. ABC may bring the show back next year.

Penn and Wright

Newlyweds Sean Penn and Robin Wright have a film in their honeymoon plans. Daily Variety says the couple expects to work together in "She's DeLovely." The script is by the late John Cassavetes, and the movie will be directed later this year by his son, Nick.



Comedian Don Rickles has a new role. He will be the new commercial pitchman for the "Comedy Central" cable channel. He'll be identified as "Don Rickles, paid spokesman" in the spots. Daily Variety says you should look for them in June.



Yet another recognition for quintessential diva Diana Ross. The singer will receive the Legend Award at the annual World Music Awards in Monte Carlo. The award show will air in the United States later this summer.
