Another Hollywood portrayal of gangster life is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter says actors Tim Roth and Laurence Fishburne are in negotiations to co-star in "Hoodlums" for United Artists. Roth would play Dutch Schultz in the film.
Actor Tommy Lee Jones soon will take on an "earth-splitting" role. Daily Variety reports the actor is in final negotiations to star in "Volcano," which will go before the cameras by the end of the year. If the deal is signed, Jones will get $10 million for the picture.

Gloria Estefan is taking the entertainment industry by storm. The singer's new album, "Destiny," is due out June 4. It will be accompanied by an HBO special, a worldwide concert tour and an appearance at the summer Olympic games. "Destiny" is the singer's first collection of original English-language songs in nearly six years, according to Billboard magazine.
Eternal rocker Meatloaf is ready to kick off a tour. The bombastic rocker will start his "Rock 'n' Roll Theater" tour in Kansas City, Kansas, on June 28. Loaf will tour to promote his platinum album "Welcome to the Neighborhood."
Actor John Travolta will be heading for Paris soon. Travolta will star in "The Double" for director Roman Polanski. John Goodman and Isabelle Adjani will be his co-stars, says columnist Army Archerd.

The musical scenes for the "The Preacher's Wife" will have to be filmed in the afternoons. The Associated Press quotes producer Elliot Abbot as saying singers are not great in the morning, but actress/singer Whitney Houston can hit the notes in her upper range in the afternoon.
