Fox studios is looking at red-hot actor Tommy Lee Jones to star in an even hotter movie. Daily Variety reports the studio is looking for Jones to star in "Volcano," one of several volcano-related films in pre-production. The Fox team originally approached Bill Pullman for the film, but he passed earlier this week.
Actor Scott Glenn has teamed up with Clint Eastwood in the Castle Rock flick "Absolute Power." Daily Variety reports Glenn will play a secret service agent in the film, which deals with a murder close to the president of the United States.
Glenn Close better have a passport to shoot her latest movie. The actress heads to Singapore and then Sydney, Australia, to begin shooting for "Paradise Road." The film also stars Jean Simmons.
There's a new "Scream" in production, and it's not another duet with the famous Jackson siblings. "Scream" is the new horror movie spoof directed by Wes Craven and starring Drew Barrymore and Courtney Cox. It was originally titled "Scary Movie." Shooting began this week.

ABC will bring the show "High Incident" back to its prime time schedule in mid-June. The show is one of the first offerings from the "Dreamworks" television division.
Actor Cary Elwes has joined the cast of "Kiss the Girls," the film based on the best-selling suspense novel. The Hollywood Reporter says Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd are already cast for the film.

Can a baby "sweep" up for "Dr. Quinn"? "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" will give birth during a two-part series through the May sweeps period on the 11th and 18th. The concluding episode in the two-part storyline will also be the show's 100th episode.

No verdict in sight yet for "Murder One." ABC hasn't decided whether the show will return next year, according to Daily Variety. The two-hour finale on Tuesday night did very well in ratings and ABC brass are reported to be very encouraged by the numbers.
Anthony Hopkins has shifted gears from actor to director. Hopkins' first film as a director, "August" which is based on Checkov's "Uncle Vanya," has just been completed. The actor-turned-director plays a role in the film and wrote the score.
Aretha Franklin will make an appearance at the JVC Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island -- her first in 34 years. She first appeared there as a virtual unknown who was the talk of the festival after her performance. The festival will be held this June.
Celine Dion has a huge gig lined up for this summer. The singer will perform in the opening ceremonies for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta this July. She'll sing "The Power of the Dream," a song specially written for the games.
Willie Nelson shocked country music fans when he recently collaborated with reggae musicians. Now Nelson is reportedly working with Grammy-winning polka artist Jimmy Sturr for a country-polka record. Stay tuned for results.
