Mariah Carey has reclaimed the number one spot on the charts. Her new single "Always Be My Baby" tops the Billboard magazine charts, the Hot One Hundred Singles list and the R&B chart. It's the third single in a row from her album "Daydream," which has gone platinum seven times over to hit number one.
The rock group Stone Temple Pilots has veered off course. The band has canceled a series of free concerts and generally suspended operations since Scott Weiland's arrest last year on drug charges in California and his treatment for drug dependence. Those charges will be dropped if he completes court-ordered counseling.
Jack Nicholson has a new film in the works. The actor will star in "Old Friends," which is about a curmudgeon seeking a family, according to Daily Variety. James Brooks will produce and direct.
After starring in the film "Babe" and receiving an Oscar nomination, actor James Cromwell's career is in orbit. Now the actor has been cast in "L.A. Confidential" alongside Danny DeVito and Kim Basinger. And speaking of orbit, Cromwell is shooting "Star Trek-Generation Two" and will be in "Eraser" with Arnold Schwarzenegger this summer.
