"Star Trek" fans must have thought they had died and gone to Heaven. Lead characters for the popular series were on hand at a Pasadena, California, convention over the weekend. Hundreds of "trekkies" savored appearances by the casts of "Trek", "Trek the Next Generation", "Deep Space Nine" and "Voyager". Fans are anticipating "Star Trek-Generations Two", which is in production.

Whoopi Goldberg donated a check and some publicity to a worthy cause over the weekend. The actress gave $25,000 presented to her as a tribute from Planet Hollywood to Covenant House in Los Angeles. The organization helps homeless and runaway youths.

The home video market has just joined the fight to end hunger, and a big name is helping in a big way. Blowout Entertainment presented a $150,000 check to "Fast Forward to End Hunger", a charity organized by the Video Software Dealers Association. Jeff Goldblum accepted the money on behalf of the group.

"James Bond" is taking on a new cause. Actor Pierce Brosnan, who plays the macho do-gooder, has made a public service announcement promoting the ideals of "Earth Day". The segments are being shown in movie theaters.

Toni Braxton's sophomore album is almost ready for release. The disc will be available in early June. By then, the record company should have a name for it. The first single, "You Make Me High", can be heard on radio in mid-May.

"Don Quixote" will soon light up the marquee with some big stars. John Cleese is set to play the title character, and Robin Williams will be his sidekick, Sancho Panza, according to Daily Variety.
