Actress Meg Ryan will not only appear in front of the camera for a new supernatural thriller, she'll be behind the camera as a producer. Ryan, through her Profrock Pictures company, is making "Lost Souls" for New Line Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter says the script isn't yet completed.

Ryan

He once starred as a cave man; now Brendan Fraser will be cast as an ape man. Fraser is set to star in a big-screen version of "George of the Jungle." The Hollywood Reporter says the movie will begin shooting in August.

Dermot Mulroney may soon have another "pretty woman" joining the cast of "My Best Friend's Wedding". Cameron Diaz may be teaming up with Mulroney and Julia Roberts. Diaz is currently on the screen in "The Last Supper" and will be appearing shortly in "Feeling Minnesota." This summer she stars in "Head Above Water."

Babe

"Babe" is top dog . . . er . . . pig in home video sales. This week's Billboard charts move the Oscar-nominated film into first place from 19th place last week. "Pulp Fiction" is second, followed by "Ace Ventura" and last week's champ, "Pocahontas."

Oscar winner "Braveheart" is the top video rental in the country, according to Billboard magazine. "Ace Ventura Two" is in second place followed by "Copycat," "The Usual Suspects" and "Dangerous Minds."

Braveheart

"Toy Story" is still the biggest international draw. The animated film is No. 1 this week in Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In Germany and Brazil, "12 Monkeys" is the big draw, and in Australia, "Broken Arrow" is tops.

Captain Kirk may have died in the closing moments of "Star Trek Generations," but his spirit will live on in the CD-Rom version of "Generations." William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and other members of the "Star Trek" casts will provide voices on the CD-Rom, which should be released this fall. There's no word yet on whether or not a clever player can save the captain.

Leno

Jay Leno is leaving Los Angeles for Chicago, at least for one week. "The Tonight Show" will be broadcast from the Windy City's famous Rosemont Theater the week of April 29. It's Jay's first weeklong stand from Chicago. He's taken "The Tonight Show" to New York, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Richie Havens and Mavis Staples will head a group of singers "In Harmony with The Homeless" this week on ABC. The concert, recorded last month in Los Angeles, features music written by homeless people searching for a way out through music. A compact disc is set to follow.
