"The Bird Cage" is still soaring over its film competitors at the box office. The comedy, starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, grossed $10 million over the weekend for a U.S. total of nearly $75 million. "Sgt. Bilko" opened in second place with $8 million dollars in ticket sales.
Could the movie "Showgirls" get another chance at Hollywood success? Daily Variety reports that United Artists is making "Showgirls" a late-night movie entry in the style of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show." The creators are even going so far as to print tip sheets suggesting where the audience can participate. United Artists will have the film in theaters Friday for a midnight viewing.

Elton John is once again in the composer's chair for Disney. John, who composed songs for "The Lion King," will create music for a Disney version of "Aida". Tim Rice will write the lyrics.
Carrie Fisher says her days in front of the cameras are over. Fisher told reporters at the American Comedy Festival in Los Angeles over the weekend that she hasn't acted in five years and has no plans to return to the stage or screen. Fisher will continue working behind the scenes and is currently writing the script for a new film for Meg Ryan.

Liza Minnelli and Dudley Moore will once again share top billing, this time for a tour. The pair will perform this summer with a 55-piece orchestra. Minnelli will sing songs from her new album, and Moore will perform jazz standards on piano. The tour will hit 14 cities this summer.
Just when you thought Lollapalooza couldn't get any bigger, it's now entering cyberspace. Lollapalooza will be the first major festival tour to sell tickets over the Internet. Ticket buyers who surf to Lollapalooza.com will be able to get tickets three days before they go on sale at ticket offices.
Some cataclysmic changes are in store for "Babylon 5." Producers of the syndicated science fiction series say the show is reaching the midpoint of its five-year story line, and this week's episode will showcase some big events surrounding the space station that will change the series for the rest of its run.
The voice cast for the movie "Oliver and Company" held a reunion over the weekend. Joey Lawrence, Ruth Pointer and Sheryl Lee Ralph were on hand for a screening of the animated film at the Disney MGM studios in Florida. The film will be re-released next weekend.
