Spin cycle
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- It's wall-to-wall people here in the "spin room" as supporters of the 10 presidential hopefuls are trying to persuade members of the media that their candidate won tonight's debate.
Right now, there are four representatives for Gov. Mitt Romney, five representing former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, five talking up Sen. John McCain, two talking up former Gov. Tommy Thompson and one speaking about Rep. Tom Tancredo's performance. As for candidates themselves, Sen. Sam Brownback, former Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, Rep. Ron Paul, Rep. Duncan Hunter and former Gov. Jim Gilmore just entered the room. It's full of nonstop spin. The most interesting thing I've heard so far was from Jim Dyke, a top Giuliani aide, who said the mayor "doesn't back down from woman's right to choose." In addition, Giuliani's campaign sent out an email message from Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, who asked viewers in a video message to back the former New York City mayor for president. Romney's campaign also sent out a statement from Sen. Jim DeMint, D-South Carolina, touting the former Massachusetts governor's fiscal conservatism -- CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser
