Sen. Brownback...Girl Scout?
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, may blame their cookies for some recent weight gain, but he's proud to be an honorary Girl Scout.
"For almost 100 years, the Girls Scouts has instilled valuable leadership skills in girls across the country," Brownback said in a statement to CNN. "I was proud to receive an honorary membership to the Girl Scouts of the Golden Plains Council; unfortunately, my membership does not come with a life time supply of Girl Scout cookies." The Republican presidential candidate met with the Golden Plains Council Girl Scouts in Kansas Monday, according to the Wichita Eagle. The scouts gave the senator a framed certificate of membership, along with a song book, a badge and a pin. As for his favorite cookies, Brownback told the scouts he prefers Caramel deLights. -- CNN Associate Producer Lauren Kornreich
