Schneider: McCain playing to fiscal conservatives
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- McCain is clearly trying to establish his bona fides with conservatives by running hard on the government spending issue. That may be smart. Many believe that’s why the party was defeated in 2006 -- because Republicans supported too much spending and abandoned a core principle of Reaganism.
