Scenes from the frontlines
COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) -- It's quite a scene outside of tonight's debate site. A box truck just drove by the McCain and Romney greeters. On all sides of the truck were pictures of aborted fetuses with the word "Choice."
As it rounded the corner, the truck, whose sponsorship was hard to discern as it passed, honked and received cheers from some of those gathered. As the truck passed a second time, a small AbortionNo.org sign and phone number could be seen. More cheers as it passed. On the opposite side of the street are three older white male protestors wearing Confederate flag shirts carrying signs "Keep the Flag/Dump McCain" and also "Iraq War/Wrong Way." Next to them is a younger African-American man with the same "Iraq War/Wrong Way" sign. And there are a few Ron Paul supporters. As it gets closer to debate time, the crowd grows. -- CNN Political Producer Laura Bernardini |
