Pelosi: Bush administration needs to 'get a clue'

Watch Reps. Pelosi and Lewis's strong words on the House floor Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday the Bush administration needs to 'get a clue' when it comes to Iraq.

"This administration should get a clue -- it's not working," Pelosi said in a speech on the House floor. "This is the fourth surge they have proposed."

"When they proposed it in January, they said, 'in 60 to 90 days, we'll know,'" She added. "It is 120 days, and now they're saying 'September,' and then they say, 'maybe by the end of the year.' So what is this?"

Shortly after Pelosi spoke, GOP Rep. Jerry Lewis took to the floor and accused Democrats of running a "dog and pony show."

"You've made your point," he said. "You had your dog-and-pony show. You've posed for political holy pictures on TV. Now what is your plan to support the troops? It is time to put the posturing and political stunts aside and do what is the best in the best interest of our troops. "

The House is set to vote on overriding President Bush's veto of the Iraq war spending bill later Wednesday. Democrats concede that they do not have enough votes to override the president's veto.
