Paul defends 9/11 comments
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Texas Rep. Ron Paul defended his comments at the GOP presidential debate that America's policy in Iraq over the last decade directly led to the 9/11 attacks, in an interview Wednesday with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
"I found two very clear quotes in the 9/11 Commission report that says that very thing, that our foreign policy has a very great deal to do with their willingness and desire to commit suicide terrorism," Paul said in an interview on The Situation Room. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani directly took issue with Paul's claim at Tuesday's debate that, "They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East." "I don't think I've ever heard that before, and I've heard some pretty absurd explanations for September 11th," Giuliani responded. "I think he needs to read [the 9/11 Commission Report], because that's policy," Paul said of Giuliani Wednesday. "Here he is, mayor of the city, and brags about all this security and he hasn't even read the report."
