Biden may pay political price for war vote
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Delaware, acknowledged on Sunday that his vote in favor of an Iraq war funding bill may come with a political price in his party's primaries. On CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Biden said, "I know what the right political vote was, but some things just aren't worth it, Wolf. I'm not running for president to get the nomination by any cost."
Biden was the only Democratic presidential candidate to vote in favor of the bill last week, but he noted that other prominent anti-war Democrats also voted to fund U.S. troops. "I'm not going to use the troops as a pawn in this game," Biden said, "the most strident voices against this war in the Senate -- I've been among them -- Carl Levin, Jack Murtha in the House -- we all voted for this because this is for four months' funding." --CNN Late Edition Producer Ted Metzger
