Thompson's 'Law and Order' colleague predicts presidential run
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- "Law and Order" star Sam Waterston told CNN Tuesday he thinks his TV boss, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, will throw his hat into the 2008 presidential race.
"I think that is going to happen," Waterston told CNN's Wolf Blitzer when asked whether he thinks his television co-star will run for president. Waterston, who described his relationship with Thompson as "friendly," praised the Tennessee Republican as a "straight-forward" man. "He's a good man, a very nice man, and he's been very, very straight-forward with me all the time," Waterston said. Waterston is in Washington promoting Unity '08, an organization seeking to advance a bipartisan or independent ticket in the 2008 presidential race. He will discuss the organization in a speech Wednesday at the National Press Club.
