Presidential candidates cancel events in wake of shootings
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Several presidential candidates Tuesday canceled campaign events in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani canceled two scheduled events -- a speech at Pat Robertson's Regent University in Virginia Beach and an appearance at the Jewish Community Relations Council Political Involvement forum in Rockville, Maryland. Former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Massachusetts, canceled a fundraising event in northern Virginia scheduled for Tuesday night. Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, canceled a town hall in Lexington South Carolina. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, canceled a foreign policy address in Chicago. Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Arkansas, has decided to go ahead with a private dinner with supporters in New Hampshire, and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, went forward with a speech to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism Tuesday morning. Clinton's campaign said her speech was not a presidential campaign event.
