New Jersey governor endorses Sen. Clinton
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, picked up an endorsement from across the Hudson River Monday from New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine.
Corzine told the crowd that he was excited to endorse Clinton for president, saying, "I will do everything within my power -- as long as I can continue to be a good governor while we're doing that -- we will do everything in our power to make sure that Hillary Rodham Clinton is the next president of the United States of America." Responding to the endorsement, Sen. Clinton said she was particularly proud to have the governor's support saying, "This is a long race, and we're putting together a great campaign. But I am especially honored and thrilled to have Jon Corzine's, because Jon and I have worked together." Clinton and Corzine were once colleagues in the Senate before Corzine became New Jersey governor in a special election in 2005, after then-Gov. Jim McGreevy vacated the office. -- CNN Political Researcher Xuan Thai
