Justice Department official: Gonzales in good spirits
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Attorney General Alberto Gonzales spoke with a handful of senators Friday and is in "good spirits," according to a Justice Department official.
The official said Gonzales spoke with Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, but declined to name the other senators. Specter is the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. The official said the "conversations went well," with the Republicans and was not sure if Gonzales spoke with any Democrats. "Attorney General Gonzales is in good spirits," the official said. "He's optimistic, feeling good. He is eager to get on with the other important work of the department." -- CNN Justice Producer Terry Frieden
