Jim Gilmore throws his hat in the ring
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore launched his long-shot presidential bid in a webcast from Iowa Thursday, criticizing the leading candidates for not being conservative enough.
"The three leading challengers for our party's nomination may be good men, but they simply do not share our conservative values," he said. He added, "It's for these reasons that I intend to pursue our party's nomination for president." -- CNN Associate Producer Lauren Kornreich
