Doctor: Corzine suffered 'severe trauma'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine remains in "critical but stable condition" after his involvement in a car accident Thursday night, Dr. Steven Ross of Coopers University Medical Center said in a press coherence Friday.
"He remains on the ventilator, on the breathing machine, heavily sedated in order to treat the pain from his chest fractures." Ross said. "He's recovering well from the surgery that was done on his broken leg. He has significantly improved over the course of the night. He does awaken. And is able to communicate with us a little bit, but remains heavily sedated." "He has had severe trauma," Ross added. "Using a general lay description, he's had severe trauma." Anthony Coley, Corzine's communication director, said the governor was likely not wearing a seatbelt. |
