Senate passes $123b war spending bill; Bush vows to veto it
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- By a margin of 51-47, the U.S. Senate Thursday passed a $123 billion war spending bill that would require U.S. combat troops to leave Iraq by the end of March 2008.

President Bush reiterated his promise to veto any bill that includes a call for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq on Thursday, speaking to reporters after meeting with Republican members of Congress at the White House.

Party switchers:

  • Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Nebraska, voted for the measure.
  • Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Oregon, voted for the measure.
  • Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Connecticut, voted against the measure.

One senator changed his vote from Tuesday:

Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Arkansas, voted against the troop withdrawal language Tuesday, but voted for the bill today
