No Way Out
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Dozens of reporters and about 10 cameras awaited the arrival of White House Counsel Fred Fielding outside the House Judiciary Committees offices Tuesday, but the media pack missed Fielding as he slipped in a side door around the corner from the cluster.

Determined to catch Fielding's exit, the cameras and reporters repositioned themselves along both corridors outside the Judiciary hearing room and the various doors leading into the committee’s offices.

A Democratic aide said that as the meeting wrapped up a White House staffer went out to scout which door Fielding should leave to avoid the Capitol Hill press corps. With a hearing now underway in the room Fielding used to enter, the aide returned and broke the news to the counsel and his entourage that "there's no way out." The aide suggested Fielding walk out and "not say anything" as he left the meeting.

As the counsel exited the offices and walked down the hallway of the Rayburn House Office Building he was trailed by cameras and reporters who were shouting questions at him. While Fielding declined to respond to the questions, the counsel did crack a brief smile when one reporter asked him if the situation he found himself in reminded him of Watergate.
